Unleash your iPod touch and take it to the limit!!, 11 Jan 2011

This review is from: Taking Your iPod Touch To The Max 2nd Edition (Technology in Action) (Paperback)
The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod that Apple has ever made. This edition of "Taking Your iPod Touch to the Max" is much better than the first edition and is a must-buy for anyone who gets a new iPod touch. To paraphrase the publisher Apress as stated on the back cover of the book, this edition will "unleash your iPod touch and take it to the limit." Unlike other books on the iPod, this one clearly focuses on the iPod Touch and its unique features.
At first blush, the cover on this book is more appealing and eye-catching than the cover on the first book. The touch of red makes the book jump out at you from a distance. This book is intended for all new iPod touch owners who know little or nothing about the device. Reading the first three chapters will give you 90% of what you need to know to get started and become comfortable with the iPod. It is well thought out and easy to read because it is well-written in a clear and transparent style, which will appeal to the average reader. I suggest that the beginner read it before getting to know your device and thereafter play with the iPod as you work through each chapter and exercises. Once you are comfortable with the various basic functions, you can start on the subsequent chapters, which will give you more specific tips and instructions to become an iPod touch expert. In fact, chapters 4 through 15 are useful for any iPod toucher user regardless of level of expertise. This book has a more serious tone than many of the other books available and avoids the silly humor found in those other books. For those expert readers who want to go to a greater depth in a particular topic, the authors provide well-selected links on the web.
No single book is ever perfect and this book is no different. I missed a good jailbreaking chapter that was present in rudimentary fashion in the first book. I found a few minor errors, such as in the first chapter on page 11: "..with the main screen facing you, the sleep/wake button is found on the right top on the iPod touch 4 and not on the left as in the iPod touch 1." I also found some typographical errors which are definitely minor and do not detract from the quality of this book.
In conclusion, I recommend it without reservation to all users of the iPod touch regardless of level of expertise.

I found this book very informational and very helpful to me. I have never owned an I-Pod touch before and this shared a lot of tools inwhich to use the I touch. I would highly recommend this book. It is very detailed and really lets you know how to utilize the ipod to its fullest potential. It has definitly made my learning experience alot easier and alot less stressful! Im so thankful to have finally found a book where I can understand the language and apply the information!

Although basic, this book was a very helpful addition to my mother's Christmas present. She's a little older and not the most technologically-savvy person, so this book really helped her out. Also, it saved me from getting calls every ten minutes. I especially like the part where my iPod Touch is taken to the max.
