Product Description

In TONI ALEO's exhilarating Loveswept debut, the first in a series featuring the hockey hunks of the Nashville Assassins, a reformed bad boy helps a charming, willful woman face off against the demons of her past.
No matter how hard she tries, Elleanor Fisher never thinks she's good enough, from her job to her weight to her love life. After enduring years of abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, Elli has been drifting through life in a daze. Until, that is, she meets Shea Adler on a promotional shoot for the NHL's Nashville Assassins. Before Elli knows what's happening, the gorgeous Shea breaks the ice and shatters her world.
A brilliant athlete inside the rink, Shea Adler is tired of the life he's living outside of it: the women, the money, the drinking. But everything changes when he meets Elli. After laying eyes on this feisty, witty, beautiful woman, he feels like he's just taken the hardest hit of his life. No matter how skeptical she is, Shea knows they are meant to be together--if only he can convince Elli to put her insecurities aside before she misses out on a shot at love.

Terribly tedious!
Elli has had two successful careers (TWO!) and one miserable relationship (which ended 6 years prior to the start of this book).
Shea is a womanising hockey captain.
She is his number 1 fan, he sees her and falls for her. So far so good.

But then you have pages (and pages, and pages, and PAGES) of angst: she doesn't understand why he likes her, she doesn't believe he likes her, she doesn't trust him, she doesn't know if she loves him, she is worried that he is going to leave her, she is worried that he will find out about her family, ad nauseum. PLUS: he doesn't understand why she doesn't believe her, he worries that she doesn't love him, he gets emotional about her ... and so on.
Eventually (and it takes a LONG time) she agrees to move in with him. Shea then decides to propose - aahh - and he goes over to ask the blessing of not only her father, but also her uncle. He then buys a ring from her best friend's little sister, who asks if he is going to propose to Elli - he says yes.
So at this point, not only does her family know he is going to propose, but so does her best friend's little sister.
THEN Victoria, Elli's hated (and hateful) sister kisses Shea in front of Elli. Now Elli doesn't like Victoria and the author has made it clear that Victoria is pretty awful - BUT Elli believes Victoria rather than even listening to the man who she appears to love. She breaks off their engagement and won't even talk to him.
Surely her father and uncle (and best friend's sister) would have told her that he was planning on proposing to her?
She sulks, cries, worries, sobs, gets depressed, doesn't talk to her friends ... And so does he (but he gets drunk too).

I cannot tell you how much I loved this story. I will be recommending it to all my family and friends.

From the beginning the characters are so real and likeable. The story has depth and pace, friendship, love and a sexy yet, with flaws leading man - and I admit that I've fall head over hills for Shea.

There are some real moments that's I won't spoil but will make you cry and make you shout.

Being English I don't know much about ice hockey but I easily imagined what the stadium would be like and may just watch a game online after reading this book.

So what are you waiting for get reading!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Hockey romance 6 Jun 2013
By Bee
Format:Kindle Edition
This is simply a love story between a successful and very rich but insecure woman and a professional hockey player.I enjoyed this book.I thought it is quite an easy read not too much drama until i got to 89% of the book where i just want to slap and bash the head of Elli to wake her up lol.Tthere were moments that were cheesy and Elli really annoy me but i couldn't put it down! I found myself chuckling and smiling like crazy at a couple of funny scenes but I feel like it got really mushy-gushy at some part, and Elli's personal issues and insecurities drive me crazy especially since Shea is so percfect. Over all I loved the twists and turns that this books has taken.I am now off to 1click the 2nd book .

4.0 out of 5 stars TAKING SHOTS 12 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Elli Fisher owns a photography business, she has just landed an assignment to photograph the NHL hockey team the Assassins. Her favourite player and all round hunk is Shea Adler. When Shea shows an interest in Elli she can't quite believe he would be interested in a girl like her, he usually dates stick thin models.
I liked this story Elli has multiple issues especially with her weight, she had been engaged to Justin but had managed to escape that abusive relationship but it had left its mark on her. Shea is tired of dating self absorbed blonde Barrie doll types. He is fascinated by Elli she is warm and giving. Their growing relationship with all it's ups and downs is the basis of the plot. I fully got Elli's insecurities after what she had been through. Plus seeing as Shea was a high profile sports star with the ability to have any woman he wanted, why would he want her.
Things I did not like, this book was overly long in my opinion. I also was not keen on the heroines best friend Harper , the conversations between her and Elli about sex were at times I felt a bit crude. They did not tie-in with Elli's character. But having said that I will definitely read more by this author. I am hoping she is going to write more stories about the Assassins.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Start To The Series 24 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Romantic and passionate story about a gorgeous NHL player called Shea and a lovely photographer called Elli.
Elli has had some horrible experiences with her ex and also some members of her family. When she meets her hockey hero the sparks of passion fly and the story begins. I enjoyed the novel but did think Elli cried an awful lot. Good Read with lots of humour . Thought Adler the dog was adorable as was Ryan. Lots of strong supporting characters. Will read the next one.
