Taking Hollywood is a fun romp behind the Hollywood curtain. The guessing game is in full swing! Scandal, sex and secrets galore! (JACKIE COLLINS)

This is a REAL insider's guide to the underbelly of life in Lala land. It's a thriller that's gritty, sexy and a sensational page turner. You won't be able to put it down. I loved it! (LORRAINE KELLY)

Product Description

From Los Angeles based performer and presenter Ross King and bestselling author Shari Low, comes this dark tale of secrets, lies, and ruthless ambition, Taking Hollywood.

In front of a galaxy of stars, three young film makers accept their Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Davie Johnston, Zander Leith and Mirren McLean, childhood friends from a rough housing estate in Glasgow, have taken Hollywood by storm.
Only they know what they did to get there. . .
Twenty years later Davie Johnston is the top host and reality show producer in town. Mirren McLean is a respected writer and movie director and Zander Leith is box office gold. But they haven't spoken to each other in twenty years, their relationships devastated by one horrific secret.
Thousands of miles away, in a town where nothing is as it seems, a young ambitious journalist discovers a tantalizing story from the past. Tinsel Town beckons. She is determined to expose the kind of scandalous drama that usually only happens in the movies.
Jackie Collins calls Taking Hollywood 'a fun romp behind the Hollywood curtain', Lorraine Kelly calls it 'a thriller that's gritty, sexy and a sensational page turner'. If you read ONE book this summer, make it this one.

I Don't and can't be bothered half the time to write a review, but I have to say this book has the right amount of everything you need in a bit of escapism. So have yourself a night off and visit the land of glitz, glamour and Hollywood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shimmering tale of contemporary Hollywood 17 Aug 2014
By Belle
This riveting tale of contemporary Hollywood shimmers with superlative storytelling, shot through with fascinating - and sometimes disturbing - insider knowledge. I loved how it ranged from Glasgow to Los Angeles, glitzy to gritty. Shari Low is a fabulous writer who moves fluidly between comedy, pathos and reportage. I'd love to see this first-class story translated to the big screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous and Scandelous! 14 Aug 2014
Taking Hollywood by Shari King is a fabulous read! Coming from Glasgow I loved the grittiness of the story, when the main characters are growing up in Glasgow. Add to that, some intrigue, twists and turns; and the glamour of Hollywood, making this book a great read.
Gripping and unexpected ending!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 14 Aug 2014
By BookAddictShaun TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
I've wanted to read this book ever since I saw the cover a few months ago so I was very excited to receive a review copy. My favourite author is Jackie Collins and if you removed the author's name from the front of this book you would instantly think it was a Collins novel from the fantastic cover. The book has also been endorsed by Jackie herself so I was even more excited to read it. I went into it with very high expectations and I'm glad to say it did not disappoint.

The book encompasses everything I look for in a book like this. Mystery: our three main characters Zander Leith, Mirren McLean and Davie Johnston each share a secret. A secret that at first bound them together but ultimately drew them apart. Scandal: each of our main characters experiences their own scandal which sees the start of their lives falling apart around them in dramatic fashion. Straightaway as a reader I was desperate to know what the secret was. We learn more about our three characters by going back in time to when they first met in Scotland until we eventually learn their secret. It's jaw dropping... Meanwhile in Scotland an ambitious young journalist is on the hunt for the story that will make her career. She arrives in LA determined to uncover the trios secret. I loved that we got to see LA through the eyes of somebody who wasn't a part of that world and wondered how long it would take before she got sucked in to it too.

Of course our three main characters have friends, family, children, managers, lovers, enemies and all are brought together to make one hell of an eventful story. Books like these are so action packed that it's impossible to discuss the plot, all I can say is that it's good. Really good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A PAGE TURNER FOR SURE!!!! 24 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Just loved it! Could not stop reading! It is clever, salacious, and the perfect book for those of you wanting the REAL inside Hollywood story, as Ross King is definitely on the "inside" as far as Hollywood goes! The book is written as a novel, but as an insider myself, I am staying on Ross' Good Side! That is all I will turner I highly recommend! Thanks so much Ross for not telling too much and changing the names to protect the guilty!!!

Shari Low is one of my favourite writers for sheer exuberant, uplifting tales, and when she teams up with Ross King, who is one of my favourite TV presenters along with his many other, this racy, full of twists and actually believable story of the showbiz ascent and experiences of three pals from the schemes of good old Glasgow is a fantastic collaboration. I have no idea how you do it, but you do this so well. I was guessing all over the place as to the plot's path, the Hollywood character inspiration. (I could see J-Lo..I could see Mr Butler, I could see Ewan..and I also saw a well known Scots journo turned amongst the characters' profiles, and no doubt I'm utterly wrong on all counts, which is why I need to read your next book. ASAP if you don't mind? This Scots Stargazer predicts a runaway best seller..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! 1 Sep 2014
Thoroughly enjoyable read. It took a few chapters to get into it as there was a lot going on (as I know some reviews have mentioned below). But it was a real page-turner, I looked forward to reading a few chapters in bed every evening.

A great twist and very Jackie-Collines-esque - cannot wait to read more from these two authors!

A great story, brilliantly told. I read it on holiday and loved it. Great, fun insight into Hollywood, strong characters that leap off the page an inevitably onto a film screen soon - and a really good mystery/crime plot woven throughout.

Highly recommended.
