Highly recommended. 16 Oct 2013
By Stephanie N. Gomez - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Be forewarned! This is a purely fictionalized accounting of John Wesley Hardin's time spent in Huntsville prison in Texas in the 1800's. That being said, this is one great book!

Garland Quick is another prisoner who meets Harding, at first a legend, but who is really just a man. Gar shares a cell with Jim, a lifer who Gar has an intimate, but not exclusive relationship with. Gar meets Hardin and their attraction to one another can't be denied. They enter into a relationship rife with the guilt feelings Wes, as a 'regular' man feels for having sex with another man, and his penchant for wanting to escape one way or another.

Deftly written by Dale Chase, Takedown spins a gentle story in an ungentle time and place. It is very simply a great read.

One of Chase's Best 2 May 2014
By William Holden - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Anyone who is familiar with the writing of Dale Chase knows that she has a way with prose, sex, and emotions. Her latest work is no different. It is beautifully written; warm, emotional, and sexually charged in a way that only Chase knows how to do.

Readers familiar with her other novel, Wyatt: Doc Holliday’s Account of an Intimate Friendship will be in for a wonderful surprise with Takedown. Chase stepped out of her comfort zone of riding the open range and wrote a fictionalized account of John Wesley Hardin, and his time inside the Huntsville prison.

Takedown is Chase at her best. It’s a fantastic read, and one that will keep you turning the page well into the early morning hours.
I always enjoy this kind of all men setting 2 Oct 2014
By Stephen A Canty - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I always enjoy this kind of all men setting, trapped together. The thought of all those "straight" men turning to each other for comfort in the absence of ladies is mind boggling. Having a famous outlaw involved is a major plus.
