Biography

Take That are an English five-piece pop-rock band consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams. Barlow acts as the group's main singer songwriter. Formed in Manchester in 1990, the band achieved major success, selling more than 25 million records between 1991–96 alone before disbanding.[1] In 2005 the group reformed without Williams and achieved new success… Read more in Amazon's Take That Store

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, 4 Jan 2010

Well, it may not have sold well at the time but it contains several Take That classics and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some really good songs on there, and even though it didn't do as well as it should have when it was first on sale, it's still a really great album and it's AMAZING!

4.0 out of 5 stars Take this, 15 May 2001
By
Mr. A. Pomeroy (Wiltshire, England) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Take That and Party (Audio CD)
The mid-90s aren't quite far enough away to be an object of nostalgia, but this album has a better claim than most for future cult status. The jolly cover - five smiling people leaping into the air, with a little logo - shows that the band's image was still being worked on, at a time when such a thing was just starting to be accepted as something mainstream artists could do in a kitsch way. As for the music, Take That stood out from their progeny by dint of the fact that they did fast songs as well as slow songs - Boyzone, for example, only do slow songs. 'It Only Takes a Minute', 'Could it be Magic' and 'A Million Love Songs' were top ten hits ('I Found Heaven' only got to number 15, for some reason), and although 'Everything Changes' has a higher hit quota, this album is nonetheless essential to an understanding of the band and their place in popular culture. It was nice to be alive in 1992, and there's a case for arguing that this album was the rebirth of pop music, and that most of the singles in the charts circa mid-2001 are there because of this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take That, 1 Jun 2011
You can't go wrong with ordering a Take That CD - whether it is the oldest or the latest. This is a fun album and worth purchasing to see what you missed if you only discovered Take That when they came back with Patience.
