Product Description

Review

'Take One Pot by Georgina Fuggle offers wholesome meals you can make in just one pot - what could be better? The gorgeous photography will have you dusting off your Le Creuset casserole and whipping up a pearled spelt risotto.'ElleDecoration.co.uk

'Georgina is a talented recipe developer, food writer, supper club hostess and food stylist- and a brilliantly enthusiastic cook who's just written her first cookbook. Great things await, we reckon…' Delicious Magazine

'There is something very satisfying about throwing all your ingredients into one pot and letting dinner take care of itself - not only does it save on washing up, but the result is often absolutely delicious.' Great British Food

'Georgina Fuggle's instructions are charmingly quirky (in her Beetroot & Orange Soup, the veg should be cooked 'until soft and panting from exhaustion'); and her recipes - which range from a simple Country-side Pot salad to a mouthwatering Slow-Cooked Veal & Red Wine Stew - mark her out as a name to watch in the world of food writing.' The Countryman

'Georgina Fuggle offers more than 90 creative and seasonal recipes that don't involve a mountain of washing up and are perfect for both the timid and confident cook, those short of kitchen space, on a budget or anyone who just enjoys fuss-free food' --Choice Magazine --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

I like this book and I will cook from it many times I am certain. However, having cooked three very different recipes from it in the last week I have noted a couple of common faults. If you are feeding people with big appetites you will need to consider adding bulk i.e bread, pasta , as the quantities given are not enough to serve 4 with no significant additions. There could do with being a bit more detail in the instructions for example size of pot or tin. I have just cooked sausages with sweet potatoes and fennel. I deliberately overdid the cooking times as I had upped the quantities and had cooked two previous recipes so was a bit cautious but next time (there will be a next time because it was delicious) I will probably use a large shallow sheet pan and spread the veg out more because it was still a bit underdone. Similarly, the Pork with dates and quinoa did not cook in the time advised and needed a significant amount of extra cooking to make the grain (freshly purchased) even faintly edible.

This is the latest in a large collection of cook books and it is rare that I persevere to this extent. I am still looking for the one cookbook that means that all of the others are redundant. This isn't it. However, the ingredients are easy to get hold of, used in imaginative ways and the results are tasty.

Ironically, this book of one pot cooking recipes is probably not for the absolute beginner. However if,like me, you try to find solutions to feeding a family midweek without resorting to the freezer or chilled food aisles it is worth a go if you are a reasonably confident cook.

If you are on board with modern thinking about food miles and conserving gas and electricity, this book is a must for your collection! I've already got over 100 cookery books but still couldn't resist this one. Cooking for all seasons in just one pot - reduces kitchen clutter and washing-up. Some quite unusual recipes but all with ingredients that are easy to find and really, really tasty. Real warming casseroles and stews for the slow cooker, hob or oven. Can't fault it other than to say that some of the estimated preparation times are slightly out, methinks!

It really is such an effortless pleasure using this recipe book. It really has a bit of everything, from old classics to slightly more modern twists. For me, a great book for those evenings when you have absolutely no idea what you want to eat - a quick thumb through and there is always something that not only looks amazing but the mere titles and descriptions are enough to get my taste buds tingling!
A real no-nonsense, homly and rather quite personal book which makes it more like a cooking-companion than a recipe book. Great for inspiration for venturing on your own "one-pot wonders" or stick to the recipes for guaranteed satisfaction.
A must for those who prefer the majority of the evening to be taken up actually eating as opposed to preparation and cleaning/washing.
Her husband's quite a looker...she obviously has good...taste (for want of a better word)...but you can't judge a book by it's cover i suppose...

Each and every dish is delicious (personal favourites are the tomato and fresh basil cannelloni and the pea and mint frittata) and the menus are fuss-free, without being patronising, and full of charm. The perfect one-pot cook book for time-poor foodies.

Such a fantastic book. I live and work aboard a sailing yacht and use this book constantly. Everything is super-simple even when trying to prepare at a 45 degree angle, but despite its simplicity there is no compromise on taste or creativity. I would thoroughly recommend this book not just as an essential on board a yacht, or in a caravan or whatever, but as a great book for ANY kitchen.

This has some excellent ideas and I am looking forward to using the recipes.
This would be excellent for a family or a couple who then freeze.
