Take the brilliant voice of Scott Walker, backed by John and Gary plus Ivor Raymonde orchestrating, and the legendary Jack Nitzche on the arrangements. Then throw in classic songs by songwriting geniuses Bacharach & David, Pomus & Shuman, Dylan, David Gates and Randy Newman, etc., and what have you got? An absolute all time classic album. Now even better on cd, with more great songs as bonus tracks. Not just the usual out-takes & barrell scrapings, either. What could there possibly be not to like??!! No apologies for all the superlatives, they're more than deserved. Anyone requiring further proof, play "First Love Never Dies" I rest my case! Unreseservedly recommended.

What a treat,i loved this group in the mid sixties and purchased this album at that time was in vinal. Searching through the music pages i came accross
several albums by the Walker Brothers and hoped there would be' Take it Easy'and, yes there were two to choose from. One had the origional 12 tunes on and the other with twenty, i was in my element and purchased the latter. Even 40 years plus this album still has the same impact Scot's smooth beautiful dulset tones just wash over you.

Acompaning the bros was Ivor Remmonde adding his own wall of sound also Sue and Sunny added some extra vocals. Sue and Sunny were sisters and at first started their music careers as session singers.

The Album started with the classic 'Make it easy on yourself' then went on to my favourites like 'The Girl i lost in the rain' and 'Your all around me'.

These songs are smooching ones and i can fully recommend this album. The music hasn't aged at all, buy this album and you will fall in love again.

a strange mix 5 Aug 2001
By Alejandra Vernon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Some of these songs sound like they came from different eras, some good, some great, some bad. Scott's voice is incredibly beautiful, John has a terrific rock sound, and together they make a marvelous blend, but songs like "Tell the Truth" and "The Seventh Dawn" shouldn't have seen the light of day, and "But I Do" doesn't fare much better. The worst part comes when the lovely "Young Man Cried" with it's wonderful moving lyrics, is followed by the dreadful "Everything's Gonna be Alright"...it's a shock to the senses.

Released in 1965, and despite some exquisite songs, this one's for Walker Brother collectors only...get their 1966 recording "Portrait" instead, which is fabulous, and released on CD with 12 bonus tracks. It's a classic that will always be a joy to listen to.

New to Walkers -- and lovin' them! 26 July 2008

I have only heard the Walker Brothers' singles in passing. I was happily surprised by how strong this album is. I enjoyed it all the way through. Reminds me of Phil Spector productions, which makes sense, since the Walkers came after Spector's Righteous Bros. productions. Highly recommended.

GREAT SOUND FROM THE GREATEST ERA! 14 Dec 2011
By REDFIRE66 - Published on Amazon.com

This cd comes from what I believe to be the greatest period of american music of our time.
The walker brothers had a sound that the technology of that time couldn't contain.
With the compact disc we get to hear what a lot of kids of the 60's couldn't hear
the clean crisp sound of the walker brothers. The girl I lost in the rain is the best song
the walker brothers ever did.Just that song alone is worth buying this cd.
