Book Description

27 Feb 2014 Chance 1
When Harlow Manning's rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough… until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan's room. Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He'd known about Nan's reputation, but still couldn't resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister - even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow's eyes, but did he ruin his chances with her before he even met her?

3.0 out of 5 stars okishhhhh...maybe spoliers 25 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is different than what I exspected to be honest I found half of it annoying at times and just wanted to give up reading it. I found Harlow to be so sweet but a doormat. The only bit I enjoyed was the ending and the cliff hanger left me wanting to see what happens next.

Spoilers...

Grant was a let down to me his character was weak and immature and not loveable him sleeping with nan again was euggh and how easy Harlow let that go was weird I mean whether her and nan are best sisters or not he still slept with her sister multiple times and then I think what really put me off him completely was when he had sex with two women the next morning has a pep talk from rush and realizes his feelings for Harlow and he wants her and then has sex with harlow the same day! I think it was really sleazy and Harlow deserved so much better and through the rest of the book he did nothing to redeem himself for me and I don't think he deserved Harlow.
I do hope the next book is so much better and were not constantly reminded of his sexcapades with nan that got so annoying everyone constantly reminding Harlow. I do hope grant becomes redeemable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Take a Chance, indeed. 9 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Where do I start.... I'm going to be honest and say the first half of the book irritated me. Mainly because it went back and forth and didn't endear me to Grant that much, but I know it was the build up of things to come. Harlow is too much of a forgiving girl and quite honestly I wanted to scream at her, "give him what for!" Then we have our lovely natured Nan! What a sweet girl she is... Not. This is the big bone of contention in the book and made me very frustrated with Grants character. But I think Abbi knew she was doing this just to wind us up. When we eventually get Nan's story, I think it will be an eye opener. I'm sure many books and kindles will be thrown in the process. Don't we just love to hate Nan! A few secrets are revealed as to Harlow's past and it will make sense to you, the way she is.
As from other reviews you will know this book has a cliff hanger and we will have to wait on the next one to see if Grant and Harlow get an HEA.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 8 Mar 2014
By L
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love all abbi glines books. And they usually all get 5 stars.
This one gets a 2 but only because it looks like an amazing start to what should be a full book. It gets amazing and gripping toward the end, then just ends. In hindsight I wish I'd have waited for the 2nd book of this series before I'd read this book, I have to wait till September now to find out the rest of the story. This book IMO is an extremely long introduction to the series and for 3.99 I expected a full story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A-freaking-mazing! 6 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Upon reading every previous Abbi Glines novel and falling for not just the characters but the plot line and flawless writing; Take a Chance had A LOT to live up to.

And did it? Answer: GRANT CARTER DOSENT JUST MAKE YOU FALL, HE MAKES YOU FALL HARD. HELL YES!

Fantasizing is what I do... day dreaming about a romance, a love so strong that you don't just love the person, you crave them. I was managing to succeed in this blissful imagery; then came along Grant, and oh my. Did he blow all I've ever thought about out of the water!

Unlike others in Abbi Glines books, Grant is vulnerable to commit. Harlow... the shy, prim and proper rock stars daughter, destroys that fear - or so we are led to believe.

For me, when devouring (not just reading but devouring) a novel it must have two things. One: a strong, independent, woman who doesn't need a man to survive. ENTER HARLOW.
Two: a insanely hot, badass, alpha male that captivates the audience with their need to protect and love. ENTER GRANT.

Not only did Take a Chance disrupt my life whilst I was burying the nose in its beautiful literature, it is still effecting me in a way that no other novel has. Having to wait for September will cause chaos in my life because I won't be able to function clearly until I get another taste of the broken perfection that is Harlow and Grant's love.

DO NOT hesitate to read it! Take and chance, you won't regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving Harlow
I loved Grant in the Too Far series so when his own book was announced I was definitely looking forward to reading it. In Take a Chance, Grant’s appeal slowly dwindled for me. Read more
