I received an email telling me it was over. I didnt know how to respond. It was as if it wasnt meant for me. It ended with the words: Take Care of Yourself. I took this recommendation literally. I asked a hundred and two women, chosen for their profession, to interpret the letter in their professional capacity. To analyse it, provide a commentary on it, act it, dance it, sing it. Dissect it. Squeeze it dry. Understand for me. Answer for me. It was a way to take the time to break up. At my own pace. A way to take care of myself.

album about the emotional journey from the very dark and lonely place where one can find itself after the relationship is over.
Calle used work of 107 women, their opinions and thoughts, analysis and schemes- depend on their profession- to get to the point she can take care of herself and carry on living alone.
she is a photographer so obviously there are pictures of the women who are giving their record on what and how they see that particular relationship and the 'farewell' letter
the most amazing is the form of the album- as every woman see and express the same thing differently every page is different, in a different form and colour.
it's amazing, strongly emotional but yet smartly done book. and from artistic point of view one of those albums you will want to come back to again and again and again. well, I'm keeping mine somewhere close. always.

I have been and see the exhibition, it was amazing and well worth it, because of it I bought the book and I do not regret at all.
Finally the story is reversed and is not the woman crying, instead is the man (if you wonder why buy the book and find out, I am not giving you the reason), nice touch to it, well depicted, unfortunately the book is limited to only still images but luckily it comes with the DVD if I remember correctly, so you can see the story in a Moving Image as well.
If you are a deep thinker this book is satisfying, so buy it, is well worth to have it, rich in colours, well constructed and full of feelings.
The picture cover it does not make justice to the whole idea and thats the reason I've rated the book 3 stars, is confusing with sexual or sensual books, but in reality it does not have anything to do with any sort of sexual images. Perhaps Sophie C. should rethink what sort of images she prints on the book cover.
Buy it, is very pleasant and the images are simple, and yet brilliant composition to look at.
