Having read this book a number of times and ending up in tears, I can safely say that this is one of the most powerful books I have ever read. If you have a relative diagnosed with dementia, or if you work in the care industry it is essential reading. Through my job I have sat through numerous Dementia Training sessions and this book has taught me more about the different perspectives of dementia than any of those courses, and I can only hope that it will be turned into a short animation for the purposes of training.
My heart goes out to both the author and his father and I would like to applaud the fact that he took time to write this book while going through such a difficult time and the way it is written is so simple and yet so hard hitting, I can only hope it helped him to do this as much as it will help its readers to understand dementia and the effects of it on both the family and the sufferer.

This is a lovely book: moving and affectionate but with a touch of humour. It makes the point that people with dementia are primarily individuals - someone's father, mother, husband or wife, who have achievements, interests, personalities and faults. Ron's story is his own but it illustrates many of the situations that face other people with dementia and their families, and deals with really difficult issues with a light and deft touch. I will recommend it to others.

Having 'been there myself' last year with someone known to the author's family, I find this a beautiful and moving summary of the months of hurt they all must have suffered.

This story, although told briefly and simply, reflects more love and affection than can be found in a million words.

Buy. Read. Remember. Cry. Reflect. Smile.

Amazing, true, warm, funny, sad, Tony has captured exactly what I felt when my father went through the same thing and has made me feel so much more positive about the experience.

A beautifully written and illustrated book. I cried a lot as my dad has dementia. I can recognise many of the things that are written here. Such a poignant reminder of this dreadful condition. I hope this book helps to get across to people what having dementia is like and how it effects not only the person with it but their family, too.

Tony Husband has written a book not only about his dad, but about many thousands of other dads out there. Thank you.

This very short book is undoubtedly the most profound marvellous book I have ever read. It is by turn funny and heartbreaking. It is just simply brilliant and I will always treasure my copy.
Thank you Tony Husband. I am sorry at what you went through with your dad but I am sure he would be proud of you if he was here today.
Best wishes
Wyn Thomas

Brilliant, brilliant truly human story about Ron Husband by his son Tony. Tony has drawn a powerful book, which I would highly recommend to be used to increase awareness about dementia - also that it is possible to live well - love the characters and the humour in the care home. I cried buckets at the end. An immense touching tribute to a unique life.

But short, affecting and kindly done, but somehow the words and pictures together make it easier to read and digest.
