Train anorak in the making, 1 Oct 2005

Our son got his first Take along Thomas engine (I think it was Percy, Thomas came later) when he was about 18 months old. This started the big Thomas craze in our house. Our son is now 2 1/2 and he has only a few left to collect. I've given this toy (the whole range) a 5 star rating for educational value as it is amazing how much our son has learned from collecting and playing. He knows the names of all the engines, can tell them apart where my partner and I can't, has started recognising names in print even with no pictures next to it for clues etc. He plays with them for hours something he doesn't do with any of his other toys. Unfortunately, they do chip easily - but then again they have a lot of crashes to withstand ;).

Lasts a lifetime!, 22 Jun 2009

These little figures are fantastically designed. Not only do they have magnets so that they interact with all the others in the range - but as they are metal, they are incredibly long-lasting.
As the other reviewer on here says, they do chip and scratch a bit - but that all adds character to toys which are played with frequently and take a lot of punishment!
This is brightly coloured and feels solid in the hand, for any Thomas fans these are the ultimate toys to have and this particular one is no doubt the most desired one. All-too-often these days, toys are purchased and end up broken within a few months so it's nice to see that you can still buy durable toys which are designed to last.

Perfect, pocket-sized Thomas, 30 Dec 2011
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

This is a very well-made little die-cast Thomas that fits just nicely into a little one's hand or pocket. The colours are bright and the individual character trains from this series are clearly recognisable (by facial expression and size as well as by paint job, number and design) for young fans. The paint, over time, is prone to a few nicks and chips - but this is typical of any die cast vehicles that have actually been played with! An excellent product, and well worth 5 stars.
