The Take Along Thomas vehicles which aren't trains often don't really give much play value and simply sit at the side of the track doing very little, however - this one is different...
...Smaller engines fit on the top of this transporter vehicle and children will no doubt love giving various trains a ride across the living room floor before placing them on the tracks. The images above don't show that Madge has a smart magnet at the front of the 'truck' and so any trains placed on there are secure and won't simply roll off.
In a nutshell: If you are aiming to collect the full set then you will acquire nice looking vehicles which don't actually do very much, but with Madge you get something a bit more special - a solid vehicle which can easily be included in any Take Along Thomas play sessions.

My just 3 year old son really loves Madge so I knew he'd be really excited to receive her as a present. He was but very soon became quite frustrated because of the design. Her tender/trailer fits on to her engine by just placing it over the towbar knob and as this assembly isn't magnetised, as it is pushed along, it keeps coming off. It's a great idea as you can put an engine on her trailer and that is magnetised so the engine stays on...but the trailer doesn't! He now only plays with her cab because he got so fed up of her trailer coming off. So not a waste of money at all but just beware of potential frustrations!

I am surprised to see the negative reviews about Madge. Yes, she comes apart. My 3 year old loves to take Madge apart and use just the engine part or put Madge together and haul a "broken down" engine. I think my son enjoys it more because it comes apart. It makes it a more versatile toy. I can't believe someone would throw it away because it comes apart. Why not just super glue it together?

My son is 3 and loves any Thomas trains, but this one is awful. The cab comes apart from the truck bed and won't stay on. My son cried out of frustration every time he played with it. I got so tired of putting it back together and hearing my son get so upset, that I threw it in the trash. He could've just played with the cab part, but he wanted Madge like she's supposed to be.

The cab comes apart from the body with the easiest of movements and then does it again, then
again, then again. My 3 year old wailed with frustration. I though it might be "out of his
leage toy" but I have a hard time putting the small "point" from body to cab. Too bad it's really
cute but don't take it home if you want a big let down.
