I have spent most of my time on the MyPlayer section where you build your own player and build them up over time. It is immensely enjoyable working through games, learning and getting better. The game is very realistic and losing concentration even for a short time may result in your opponent scoring against you, so you do have to 'be there' the whole time you're playing.
Well worth buying!highly recommended!
Anyway here goes my review.
Graphics - 9/10
99% of the player faces are super accurate and detailed and the coaches faces are much improved from last year and don't look like wax. The courts, crowd and animations are all improved, the only minor thing I can think of is the cheerleaders look terrible.
Gameplay (Offline) - 3/10
I was a big fan of Association on previous games but the gameplay makes this one terrible. I like player stats to be realistic but when you play a whole game and Andrew Bynum gets 1 rebound just because he isn't very athletic, is terrible. Also players don't always react on loose balls, steals and blocks are a lot harder than before which shouldn't be the case, jump shooting is too easy compared to real life and the same goes for free throws.
Gameplay (Online) - 4/10
The online gameplay is a little better than offline and that is because steals and blocks are a lot more frequent. Once again jump shooting is way too easy and because of this everyone exploits this and have teams full of shooters. Defense is pretty much non exsistent, opposing players slide through your players, 3pt shooters are left open alot no matter what you do and although blocking is easier that offline players seem like they are scared to block. I'm a decent player I win 60%-70% of my games, the community is horrible and full of sore losers, now instead of people quitting the game, if they are losing by a large margin they will keep pausing the game etc. to annoy you or try to get you to leave. This is a bigger problem on the mode MyTeam is a new game mode.
Presentation - 5/10
I personally find the menus easy to navigate through and have had no real trouble but they are a bit unorganised and uncreative. The music is terrible and a massive let down considering Jay Z was responsible for this aspect of the game. A good amount of the tracks are censored, one of the tracks is from 2K10, a lot of the tracks are really bad and because of the lack of decent tracks they get boring fast.
Other - 7/10
I like the addition of the allstar weekend but it doesn't have much replayability, myteam is a great add-on but unpolished, mycareer saves this game for me and is the only reason I still play it to this day. I like how you can use your myplayer in online black top games etc.
Overall - 4/10
I'm a huge basketball fan and love video games, I am massively disappointed and the game feels uninspiring. If you like a deep game I wouldn't recommend it but if you want a basketball game then you don't really have a choice because Live has been cancelled again!
I forgot to mention the gameplay is a lot more fluid when your on offense but it doesn't do the gameplay any justice, there is still a number of glitches. This game is overrated beyond belief and because of that it'll be a long time before we see a complete basketball game. Also the whole VC point thing is a great feature but 2K have used as a way to get extra money SUPRISE! SUPRISE!
