Overall, I think it is a decent game with good gameplay and a fairly interesting range of game modes.
The association mode is very addictive. Although the trading system is not very realistic, as AI can be fooled into trading top 5 draft picks for pretty much worthless players. The legends mode is very realistic but there is some annoying overlaps in team unlocked, so you will end up with 3 similar Lakers team etc
The main problem is the my player mode. Despite gameplay not being very challenging even at all-star difficulty, you still play a lot of games to improve your player, who can become amazing in the span of a season. The problem with the mode is that you will get bored after a while and you will find out that you can't simulate games! You can simulate games that are not key but it is still a lot of games. It gets even worse when it gets close to the playoffs and every game become key as they have 'playoff implications'.
Finally, the game can sometimes get very laggy out of the blue or just crash altogether. I am positive that this is not my laptop as it can comfortably run more demanding games like FIFA 12 or Diablo 3. The crash always seem to come in the quarter breaks, where the game will just kindly kick you out and you lose all your progress. I stopped pla ying this game because of all these problems, which are alarmingly frequent. I had a lot of fun with the game overall, but the problems goes beyond the game. The same thing happened with 2011, and I don't think I have enough patience to go through 2013.
