5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome 14 Oct. 2010
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
As a first timer to any NBA game it took me a couple of hours to get used to the gameplay. Now I am used to it I've got to say it's really fun and I havn't come across any annoying features that deter me from wanting to turn on my PS3 to play it. The attitudes and signature poses of the players, unless i'm mistaken, seem to have been captured perfectly, each different style of shooting, free throw etc. has been included.

Commentary is great and really helps a UK fan to feel more involved in the league, given that I don't want to pay for ESPN and the highlight reels on the NBA websites are a little underwhelming in length for the most part. I've noticed some repetition over the course of the last 10 or so hours i've been playing but since I've stuck to one or two teams i'm not suprised.

Rosters are not completely up to date, but all main Summer acquisitions are in place.

Live updates etc. add to the feel of involvement in the league rather than being stuck playing a separate game on your own. Internet access is not essential, of course, but it really adds to the experience.

Almost all settings are customisable, so if you don't want to spend ages skilling up, you can pretty much just make the difficulty a lot easier, increasing percentage chances of shots, customising song playlists, making your own player, playing as 'classic' teams from the ages (90's Bulls are pretty fun!).

I've been saving the Jordan challenge for when i'm properlly good but i've checked it out and for Jordan fans this is, well, really great! I was too young to truly appreciate that era technically and from what i've seen it's a really good way for me (and others obv.) to understand more of that era.

I would say graphics wise it's awesome.

I am a complete Basketball novice and just brought this game for something different to play . I have to say the first couple times i played it i was put off as i didn't have a clue what was going on . But if you stick with it and practice practice practice you will gradually get the hang of it and realize what a fun game this is .

5.0 out of 5 stars Best basketball of all time? 8 Jun. 2011
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I played every nba2k game since 2k6 and this is probably the best one yet. More signature styles than ever, customisable post shots, momentum shots, dribble moves etc. My player mode has improved with the ability to play with your created player online, form crews etc.

The big new thing this year is the MJ mode- you get to collect Jordan shoes giving you special advantages. You get to try out many classic NBA team from the MJ Bulls era. There is also the Jordan challange- a series of games with a set objectives to match or surpass what Michael Jordan did in these game. This is the first time you get to play as Michael for quite some years!!! When you do all the challanges you unlock a special mode- which essentially like myPlayer mode but you start with an already decent young MJ.

I found it is easy to get into and the more you play the more satisfaction you get by getting better at all aspects of the game- from killer crossover to being unstopabble in to post.

5 Stars!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars best NBA simulation so far 8 May 2011

This game is since years the best NBA franchise on videogames.2K even improved the graphics and feeling as well the enviromnment of an NBA game, u feel the authentic reaction of the audience especially in the playoffs.2K made the best player JORDAN came back on a cover which is pretty impressive , because u r able to play his best matches against the Celtics 1986 or Pistons 90s Lakers 91 etc once again as a challenge or just play with some legendary teams of the past with original jerseys faces moves etc. To me whos a fan since the 90s this is right thing to improve the already best franchise one step clother to perfection.Online games make a lot of fun 1 vs 1 or as a member of a team up play as well to create your own player to become legendary yourself makes this a great value to any sports fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic with only a few, frustrating flaws 15 May 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not a frequent player of basketball games, the last I owned being NBA Live 2005, and so the NBA 2k series was completely new to me. It took me a while to get the hang of how to play it, but nothing that a few games vs. the CPU didn't sort out. Saying that, I do still prefer to play on 'Rookie' difficulty. I play full-length games as I prefer the stats to keep in check with when I sim games, which I do often.

Association Mode is engrossing. I'm currently in my 3rd season with the Knicks and have qualified for the Playoffs both of my previous seasons, making it to the Eastern Finals before losing to Miami. Seasons seem realistic enough. I've recently tried moving beyond 'Rookie' mode and the scorelines I'm getting seem much more believable. Simulating games has got me a mixed bag of results, which is to be expected with a New York side that aren't quite championship contenders.

Performing trades is a difficult task but, once you get the correct combination and pull the trade off, it makes it worthwhile. There is a 'trade finder' to help you in this, helping you find trades for players from other teams as well as offloading unwanted players on your own roster.

I acquired the top draft pick through a trade with New Jersey, and the whole draft experience is another positive aspect of the game. Scouts can be sent to check out any player entering in that year's draft. You can hire and fire scouts, coaches and other personnel.

There is an extensive 'Playbook' feature to take advantage of. Whilst I haven't quite gotten as far as getting the hang of this, it looks to be very in-depth and should be easy enough to understand for those more familiar with the game and the 2k series (not me, yet).
