Amazon.co.uk Review
From the makers of Sin, Ritual have spent their time refining and honing the
Quake III engine to make a 3D Shooter with more adventurous overtones, played from a third person perspective and based on the obscure comic book series of the same name
Heavy Metal F.A.K.K 2. The heavy weapons everyone associates with this game type are still present, but, to make thing a little more interesting, the inclusion of older weapons like a sling, a sword an axe and a flamethrower have been added. In fact, despite taking the engine of one of the heavy hitting 3D shooters of yesteryear, like
Half Life, there's a heavy
Tomb Raider influence permeating throughout the action. Like
Deus Ex the story is advanced with intelligently written if sometimes scrappily rendered cut scenes, which pop up so often that they begin to turn to padding after a while, but
Lara Croft fans are probably more used to this than action-hardened
Quake/Unreal devotees. The graphics are excellent but unfortunately there are still the problems with line of sight and collision detection seen in
Tomb Raider when lining yourself up with platforms--if the PC disagrees with your viewpoint, you "miss" the platform and fall to your death. Be ready to save before making that jump--another 3D shooter mainstay. Unlike
Daikatana, you'll still want to play through the early stages to see the graphics improve even further. It's not a disk hog at 400Mb HDD install. There's no multiplayer, maybe this will be the basis of a sequel depending on this game's success. Ultimately
Heretic/Hexen and
Tomb Raider devotees will enjoy this game the most, action obsessives may miss multiplayer too much to take the plunge- unless they enjoyed that other off-the-wall 3D shooter by Take 2,
Kiss Psycho Circus.

Product Description
F.A.K.K.2 is a universal warning to all Federation deep-space navigators, indicating a dangerous biohazard where life enters and only death remains. F.A.K.K.2 is also the name of a world so sublime, with a secret so great, that only the most terrifying classification could keep the spoilers away. F.A.K.K.2 is also a woman who has assumed the name of the world she cherished, when that name alone could no longer protect her tranquil paradise from greed, cruelty, and annihilation. With vengeance in her soul, love in her heart, and two fully automatic, four-barrelled blasters in her hands, F.A.K.K.2 is a ravishing avenger on a deadly mission. A steel-eyed huntress and expert warrior, F.A.K.K.2 fights with a single purpose: she will not rest until she's freed her sister from the ruthless, power-hungry monster who abducted her when he ravaged their majestic planet and stole its greatest secret.
The game's story picks up where the movie leaves off. You control F.A.K.K.2, who must now defend her home world from invasion by a Borg-like collective known as GITH Industries. GITH is an ugly megalomaniac who wants to dominate the universe and either possess or decimate everything that lives and breathes. He has been motoring around the galaxy in a spaceship strapped to a conquered, decimated planet. The company is looking for an upgrade and has discovered Julia's world. F.A.K.K.2 is the only thing that stands between GITH and total control of the universe. Time for our heroine to break out the four-barrelled blasters again.
The game is played in a third-person perspective with equal parts action and adventure. Among its key features are dynamic environments, visible damage, and two-handed combat.
