I bought this game not expecting much, but I was very wrong.
I don't want to spoil the story, so I'll explain it as much as I can without spoiling it.
You play as a 'Vault Hunter' - someone crazy enough to seek the mythical vault.
A man named 'Handsome Jack' puts a very large bounty on your head; as such very nearly everyone starts trying to kill you.
Handsome Jack is also trying to awaken an entity known as 'The Warrior' which is inside the vault- see the problem?
I'm not going to spoil the ending.
There are 4 classes: Soldier, Gunzerker, Assassin and Siren.
The soldier, Axton, can summon a turret which will kill enemies in front of it and can be upgraded as you go through the game.
The assassin, Zer0 (A.K.A number) gets 'Decepti0n' which summons a hologram and makes your character invisible. Melee damage is also boosted during this period.
The siren, Maya, has 'Phaselock' which traps an enemy in a bubble of energy. It can be upgraded to do damage whilst they are frozen in the bubble.
The gunzerker, Salvador, can dual-wield either the 1st and 2nd guns that are equipped or the weapons in the 3rd and 4th slots.
Speaking of guns, the weapons have almost too much variety. You're almost guaranteed to never get the same weapon twice, as every weapon (as well as grenade mods, class mods and artifacts) are all randomly generated. However, you will need to be constantly getting new weapons as the level scaling isn't very fair- I had a weapon that did 43 damage + very strong fire damage whilst I was at level 15 and by level 17 it was obsolete and I was using a weapon that does 86 damage + fire damage. Constantly selling weapons to make space for better weapons because they're obsolete a few hours after getting them can be very frustrating, especially when you only realise after you've started a mission.
As such, I rate this game 4 stars.
