Transformers Masterpiece Megatron is a reproduction of the leader of the decepticons, Megatron. Following on from other masterpiece versions of Optimus Prime, Skywarp and Starscream, Megatron is the most ambitious project Takara have made in the Masterpiece range. Due to the logistics of making a full-sized gun transform into a robot with arms and legs, the model itself lacks the solid feel of previous models like Optimus. The model feels less sturdy and transforming is also much harder, while pressure is needed to make some of the parts 'pop' into place, it feels at times as if you are going to break the model. As mentioned though, this is due to the difficulty in designing a gun-to-robot model and frankly, the design itself is incredible. There's no doubting this is a brilliant looking toy that sits perfectly in size (around 12 inches) next to Masterpiece Prime. Negative points aside, the model looks stunning in both robot and gun mode, though sometimes he seems wobbly on his feet! His gun is also a little oversized but none-the-less makes for an impressive reimagining of Megatron.

In summary, Megatron is certainly flimsier than other Masterpiece versions but, if treated as a collectors item rather than a toy, will provide a wonderful sense of nostalgia.

ok if you are looking for a toy then please dont buy this.

this model is extremely beautiful and stands well alongside the 12 inch optimus prime model be it hasbro's 20th anniversary piece or the takara masterpiece.

transforming isnt that straightforward and this megatron is delicate, but i didnt buy it to play with, the arm cannon is massive, nice red led though but too big for megatron to balance with it on.

this is not a toy, its a beautiful object to be proud of, i would recommend it to a serious collector not someone looking to buy something for a child.

He is everything Megatron should be. He looks as he did in the original G1 tv series. Its only a shame he doesn't come with the silencer like in the classic transformation sequences (though you can buy that in an add-on kit with tripod and extras). Other than that a valuable addition to any G1 Transformers collections.
