This is a great guide to the great city of Taipei. However, the restaurant recommendations/ reviews are virtually all of hotel restaurants. In this the authors missed an opportunity to actually review Taipei's best places to eat, and provide useful information to the new visitor.

For anyone pondering a Far East trip, Taiwan, and in particular Taipei, never seem to be on the short list, well they should!
They are popular with Japanese tourists, but not so with Western tourists.
The book is a very detailed insight in to Taipei City, a city very American in its look, but very different in its feel.
The book details all the usual things you would expect from a City Guide, and details them well. It shows just how much choice of different foods there are. Having visited Taipei many times, I can honestly say I have never had a bad eating experience. Now I have the guide, more enjoyable meals are planned.
There is more to Taipei than the 101 building, and with this book, you are sure to discover some of them.
