Excellent, so pleased that this is now in print again. Have been waiting for this for a while. An excellent book recommended to all who are practising tai chi with a teacher. If you are studying alone it would be hard to know all the little important points on safety of movement especially as us westerners don't spend 20 years studying other martial arts first as was normally the practice for students who want to study tai chi in the east. The photos of professor Cheng Man-Chuan are excellent and this book is a must for anyone studying this form of tai chi remember these are the photos of the master who devised this form what more can a student ask for now that the master is no longer with us and so we can't be a direct student of his.

I have had classes in Tai Chi, so have some experience. The book does not allow beginners to perform well, and there are much better books out there.

The Master of 5 excellencies, Cheng Man Ching leaves us his wisdom through these words, and through these insights we learn something of why this man has left such a powerful legacy in the world of Tai Chi Chuan. Of all the teachers from the 20th century, it was perhaps Cheng Man Ching that understood the need for adaptation and evolution in this formidable yet flexible martial art. It is never enough to study the moves, or the angles and postures, one needs to probe deeper, and to ask questions not about how, but about why. This book is an invaluable asset to any serious student of Tai Chi.
