Extremely Good 23 Oct 2004
By M Smith
Format:DVD
Excellent episodes, the cast having suffered another loss after the death of Iain Anders, who played Supt.Jack McVitie since the early episodes. A new character emerges, DI Robbie Ross played by John Michie, joins Blythe Duff, James Macpherson, Robert Robertson and Colin McCredie for the first time in theses episodes. Also a trip down memory lane for old loyal Taggart fans in one episode called `Fearful Lightning`, Jardine now promoted to DCI, tries to solve an interesting crime, and a psychic informs Jardine that Jim Taggart keeps sending messages to him, to help Jardine solve the investigation. This episode includes several scenes of Mark McManus from the 1980`s. All in all Volumes 34 to 37 are excellent episodes, and well worth purchasing.

There is a murderer on the loose in the streets of Glasgow. A major Police investigation is launched to find the killer. But as the case goes on, one by one more bodies of young women are found brutally strangled in the city. The case is headed by the tough, mean and highly experienced Detective, Chief Inspector Jim Taggart. A local cop who has risen through the ranks to his position. Much to his annoyance he has a new side kick, Detective Sergeant Peter Livingstone, who is one of the new breed of graduate Policemen to the force. Even with there differences they work together to track down the killer before he attacks again. Taggart getting grief from his boss Superintendent Murray fires him up for the investigation even more. Excellent episode and the first Taggart episode ever broadcast. Worth buying.
