Product Description

By popular demand, Chief Inspector Jim Taggart is back!! Mark McManus stars in three classic episodes boxed together in a stunning digi-pack, which is sure to be a popular choice. Knife-Edge: Body parts turning up all over Glasgow draw Taggart and his team into a complicated web of intrigue. Flesh & Blood: A role-playing game spills over into real life with devastating results, and the team are under pressure to solve the puzzling case. Nest of Vipers: The discovery of two skulls at the site of a new bypass brings the team once again to the forefront of the seedy underworld of the city. This time, however, for Taggart, it s personal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Taggart vol.1 9 Dec 2010
By Dr. H. A. Jones TOP 500 REVIEWER
These are three excellent extended stories (each over 2 hours) and set the high standard of the series for involved plots, `red herrings' and for the acting and production. The idea was conceived by Glenn Chandler, and Mark McManus played the cynical and disillusioned Glasgow detective, Jim Taggart, so very well. The first episode, `Killer', was aired in 1983. These three DVDs must have been amongst the early episodes of the series, possibly all from 1986 or 1987 when the character of Michael Jardine was introduced. McManus was ably supported from the first episodes by Harriet Buchan as his long-suffering disabled wife Jean. The 3 DVDs here are for the stories `Knife edge'. Flesh & blood', and `Nest of vipers'. Inevitably they don't move with the pace of some modern detective stories, but are highly entertaining nonetheless.

Dated but well acted piece. Interesting to see a few familiar faces in what was probably one of their early roles.
