Although this is a new Tae Bo dvd it is aimed at beginners. I have lots of Tae Bo dvd's and bought this as I really enjoy Tae Bo. At first I was dissappointed as the foundation section is instructional and I thought I was beyond this, however it was so useful as it has changed the way I position myself in all the moves. It also includes 20 mins of cool down which is really good as other Tae bo dvd's don't focus on cool down. The energy section is just less than 50 mins and puts all the moves together. Its similar to other basic Tae Bo but its still tough compared to ordinary work out dvd's.

The dvd contains two sections Foundation and energy.

Foundation:
If you are familiar with Tae bo you have probably already done an instructional workout but this one is different as it does work both sides of the body.
It goes through the exact positioning for each punch and kick and then runs through at actual speed which is good. Approx 20 mins punches, 20 mins kicks and 20 mins cool down.

Energy:
Approx 50 min workout which puts together the punches and kicks learnt in Foundation. This is a good Tae bo basic workout.

In Tae bo there are basic and advanced workouts and I find that the basic work outs are still quite tough. If you want good advanced Tae bo you should get the Get Ripped series as they are really tough but I still think this is a great dvd. The energise dvd is also a good cheap dvd in the series.

Hey, are you falling over? 7 Mar 2006

I've owned three other Billy Blanks workouts in the past, and while I had fun doing them, I had trouble balancing. I finally bought this DVD so I could go through and learn the moves slowly and get the footing right. I'm really glad I did! Even though you'll only need to use the Foundation segment once to get the moves down, it's definitely worth owning. I could tell the difference the very next time I worked out with one of my other tae bo DVDs. And the Energy section is a good workout that you can do over and over. I totally recommend this compilation for tae bo beginners (or people like me who were still falling all over the living room).

If you are a beginner, you want Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo - Instructional Workout, Basic, Advanced, 8-Minute Workout (1999)

As for this (Foundation/Energy) its great if you've been doing Tae Bo for a while. Honestly, this is a great set!!! Just be sure you start out with the right DVDs.

Well... 19 July 2005

This is my first Tae Bo Billy Blanks workout. Billy is energetic and he leads a very large class. The first part of this DVD: "Foundation" is a very good instructional workout for basic Tae Bo---Billy explains the moves and shows them to you. The second part: Energy ties the moves you just learned in "Foundation" together in a faster (but not overwhelmingly fast) workout that will get you sweating some.
One of my pet peeves is that I do not like a crowded set on my exercise DVDs. The large class does, however, portray a wide variety of people that is encouraging in the sense that it isn't just the fittest of the fittest working out. This large class, however, counts out loud continuously and this, I find to be very annoying after the first 2 times of working out to it. Another annoying thing is that Billy will be in the middle of exercising and then he stops abruptly and begins moving among the crowded set. This breaks my "flow" as I am first learning the moves. Then Billy proceeds to NOT do even amounts of moves per sides---another pet peeve of mine! And last, but not least, when Billy tells you to work your right side, he works his right side too and this causes you to work/move the opposite side as him throughout the workout.( he does the same thing on the left side).
It's a good start to learning Tae Bo if you can get past my "pet peeves", but I've decided that I'll learn cardio kickboxing elsewhere!
