Tactical Sailing - Learn how to sail, steer a sailing boat, and make use of tactical tips while having fun! This is a computer game for everyone who is interested in sailing or water sports in general - it simulates a sailing race. You steer a sailing boat using simple commands: tack, jibe, luff up, bear away - or make use of an autopilot. Learn strategy and tactics while playing against a fictive opponent, either the wind, a sparring partner or time. You can have a lot of fun with the wind, many wind patterns from 1x1, 2x2, ... 8x8 will force you to concentrate to become a winner. Our boats are steered with the help of a polar diagram: Opti, Laser, 420er, 470er, 29er, 49er and a keel boat H-Boat. Optimal boat speed can be traced all the way: beating upwind , on a reach or run. A sailing race is definitely a game against the wind: upwind, reach or downwind, lulls, puffs, as well as oscillating or shifting winds. The program includes a learning module: tactical tips from David Dellenbaugh are presented as video-clips, e.g. that illustrate the advantage of sailing the long tack first, or downwind and upwind tactics. Using tactics while sailing a race means to know how to use the particular features of laylines, the rules of the zones, overlapping, and the inside position of buoys on any course: from the Olympic trapeze to up and down. We use optimal angles to tack or to jibe and we give tips to maneuver if you get a header, a lift, or persistent shift. Game type: Sail against wind, a sparring partner or time, game level for beginners and up to complex situations. Learn module: Standard situations and tactical tips are audio-visual animated presentations (Video-Clips). Realization: 2D-Grafic, Arcade-Modus.
