Elite? Tachyon!, 9 April 2001
When a member of my family first bought tachyon I thought it was just another tacky space Sim. Then I started playing, and within minutes, I was hooked. The combat simulasion is amazing. Fast paced, brilliant weapons and over ten different ships. In most games the ship doesn't make any difference whatsoever, apart from a pretty paint job, but in Tachyon you can see, feel and hear the difference. The graphics are amazing and I reccommend an 800Mhz processor and a GeForce video card for best performance There are loads of different characters, and the storyline is also excellent. The only thing the game lacks is that it isn't open ended enough.

Beyond Excellent, 10 Sep 2003
As a hardened flight-sim/space combat vet, I thought that this would be "just another space combat-sim". Was I ever wrong! Containing an in-depth storyline that can be played from two completely opposite perspectives, this is a game you can get your teeth into. Only downside is that you will need quite a machine to get top performance in heavy graphical environments later in the game.

Bruce Campbell... with a... quad railgun?!, 9 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Yeah that's right, the star of this show is Jake Logan, who's voice is done by no other than Bruce Campbell star of the Evil Dead films. So why five stars then? Well, think Mech warrior 2 mercenaries in space. Or, if you haven't played Mech2 mercs, then think of vast star systems, capital ships the size of small planetoids and fast, frantic battles. This game has it all, from the cheesy plot twists, to the all powerful killer death rays. But, the one thing that makes this game stand out is in fact a fairly basic requirement of video games; you feel totally immersed in the experience. The ships you fly really do feel like the behemoths they are, from the all destroying Warhammer, with its quad laser array to the nippy mace and its 0 to 60 in 0.02 seconds. The missions never fail to engage either, each mission is different, seemingly peaceful scouting runs can very suddenly turn into hectic dog fights, with ships twisting, turning and disintegrating through glorious 360 degree freedom. Of course, having only a 360 degree arena would be boring indeed, luckily, the world of Tachyon is filled with massive space stations, scrap yards, asteroid fields and of course, the enemy, all rendered with some of the prettiest and fastest graphics I have ever seen. Sadly, Novalogic have stopped supporting the game online which means that there are only a handful of players online at any one time... so no 100 player battles then... heh, you just wait for the final battle in the single player game, i won't spoil it for you, I'll just say that not even Serious Sam would throw that much frantic action at you. So, to conclude this review, I would just like to say that I did in fact buy this game for the multiplayer, however, after being addicted to the single player game for a week and not yet having piloted half the ships, I don't think I'll ever need the multiplayer element. In a word, this game is simply heavy metal, sadisticly powerful pulse lasers, 'dark side' power sappers, 5 ship melees, to the 100 ship finale this game rocks.
