5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than expected! 5 Sep 2011
Taking it out of the box i was surprised how much bigger it was than expected, it loads apps from market place easily or go on line with your main computer and pick the app you want and if you have got it set up right it'll just download what you want straight on to the tablet (it seemed to download a lot quicker to me this way). All in all a very nice bit of kit

5.0 out of 5 stars versinmarch-great product. 22 Sep 2011
I wanted a tablet that would allow me to watch my movies/videos, read ebooks, browse the web and access my emails without breaking the bank and this one at [] appeared to fit the bill, I was not disappointed. The instruction book at first appeared useless but with a little persistence was able to work out how to set up my email accounts and web browser. Watching BBCI player is a doddle and no waiting for the computer to power up, the tablet itself is very easy to hold and not at all heavy. I did not want a 10 inch screen and this 8 inch size is just the right size for me. I have managed to download many apps from the Android Market and they work extremely well (Angry Birds, Kindle etc). The tablet itself appears to be extremely well built and should hopefully last a few years. If I was to compare it I would say it is most like my ITouch but with a bigger screen so more of a pleasure to watch my movies. All in all I am extremely pleased with this tablet and if you don't want to break the bank I recommend the Tabtech A816.

I will receive a free gift but it is an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect For Me 26 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase
This is my first tablet and as I had not long bought a new laptop, didn't want to spend too much. I did a lot of research before settling on this one. It arrived in just two days and a query I had was replied to in under 10 mins - very good service. I wanted this to take on holiday and I did just that. It accompanied me around Cambodia and I didn't experience a single issue.

I bought a microsd card 16gb and put some tv programmes, movies, books and music on that. I downloaded Skype and a few free games. All worked perfectly. Wherever I went, I had no problem picking up the free wifi. I like the resistive screen, I know other people prefer capacitative. It is a little heavier than an iPad, I think but it is not as heavy as other tablets that I researched. The battery life isn't phenomenal and web pages take a little time to load. I am only used to a pc so that could be a general tablet thing, I don't know.

All in all, a great purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance! 24 Oct 2011
I was looking a cheap tablet at the same time powerful one.

+Very fast, Android 2.3 is very good
+Google Market is awesome
+Good Inputs
+Build quality actually is very very good

- Resistive touch screen (Howerver, I use my nails to navigate, I font have problem, very very sensitive with nails)
- No volume control button, BIG MINUS
- Screen is OK, not like an ipad of course

for 130, I am more than pleased, I wanted this for reading my educational pdfs and books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good introductory tablet 3 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase
This is a good introductory tablet, good value for money. The initial setup is fairly straightforward and although the manual is best read with a sense of humour it is possible with careful reading and the help of google to get it up and running quickly. Generally I have found the screen to be quite responsive and applications run well, I have had no problems running the common ones such as Kindle and iPlayer. There seem to be a few problems with the Android market thinking this item isn't compatible but downloading and installing the app from an alternative source has proved it wrong every time.

Had a lot of problems with this recently, it wouldn't add applications. I was asked to return it for checking, I did and it came back with cracks in the case. I returned it again and it has been returned looking worse than it did before and not functioning!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, you get what you pay for. 29 Dec 2011
By Jim
I should have realised that the low price was trying to tell me something. When it arrived i charged it up, only find that you can only charge it through the charger, and not USB.

Ok let's try the WIFI, which didn't connect, after much faffing I changed my WIFI router and the situation improved. The screen is ok, I suggest you use a pointing device for it, or a long finger nail. Forget trying the pinch zoom, which is rubbish, either you zoom in/out too far, or not at all.

Battery life is laughable, each morning I expect it to come out of sleep mode, only for it to boot up and to find it has no battery life left, on the charger it goes.

Now the good points :-

It comes with a nice array of apps, and the you can download more from the market place. It's no slouch, and the most demanding games run very well indeed. IPlayer is a joy to use on it, even though the resolution is a bit low. It is light weight and can easily fit in a bag for being on the move, just make sure you bring your charger. HDMI output works as expected.

On the whole it is an ok tablet, just bear in mind you get what you pay for.
