This album is a very all round turntable-based production with both up tempo story telling tracks as well as soulful compositions.
All instruments on the entire album are scratched in a "sketch book"-kind of way showing that the turntable really has become an instrument. I have to say that i find this album more funky and direct than the sketch book project.
Adlib put it: "We wanted to make the songs interesting in themselves, not just because of how they were done."
Table Manners is clearly a showcase of great skills and new ideas that surely will capture the ear and mind of any turntable-interested as well as being an excellent example for those not into the scene, with the easy listening tracks "Broccoli Wars", "Summertime", "Never Leave", "Music Sucks" and "Stick 'em up".
In my opinion this is one of the first albums in a new era, or at least a path for scratching on a whole. Leaving guest MCs, programmed beats and cuts only with word samples behind. If that sounds good to you should definitely buy this one.
