Yann Tiersen has produced two of the most memorable soundtracks of modern times in Amelie, and Goodbye Lenin. Unfortunately I don't think he will get the praise due to him for this sublime gem of an album which is the soundtrack to a French film about the famous sailor who was washed overboard in the 60's, his body coming ashore in Ireland 5 weeks later.
This album really has all the elements of Tiersen's work, predominantly keyboards with loads of other instruments thrown in, all played by Mr T himself. This is a more stark set than others he has done, almost Satie-esque in places, but it is quite, quite beautiful.
Now where can I see the film?
