A great textbook for any medical student that is well written in an approachable format, this book is most useful for a student who wishes to pursue a career in paediatrics following medical school and has an interest in working in a large acute hospital. Although written by Australian authors this is still a useful book to give an idea of what the system in our country is like as the two countries health services are comparable. This book goes far beyond the core curriculum of a medical school in any year in many of it's chapters, however there is much within this book that would be useful for any medical student to read. Paticularly useful with this book is how it has been separated into 30 different chapters addressing systems and special situations individually and something many books don't cover, Adolescent medicine in it's own chapter over some 602 pages.
On the whole a book that would be well worth considering reading if this branch of medicine is something that you are considering entering into in the future.
