Product Description

Fans of the cult TV show 24 will get into this book instantly. Jack Bauer, the finest field agent at the Counter Terrorism Unit of the US government is cited on page one. This ultimate hero seems to carry the weight of the world on his not inconsiderable shoulders. Saving the President, killing the bad guys and saving the world is all in a days work. But as Krish Kandiah points out (according to TV land) Bauer has never been to the toilet, gone home to bed, had a meal sitting down or run out of battery power on his mobile phone. Bauer is a full-on 24 hour a day agent. Building on this analogy, the author takes a lightning survey of real life which is far away from a scriptwriter's world; work, leisure, family, eating, resting, exercising, shopping and (wait for it) fun. He passes these everyday things through the filter of Scripture with the simple aim of helping us discover what a God-centred life looks like.

In a cliché-free zone, the book suggests practical ways that we can discover a more 24/7 approach to discipleship. It is real, stimulating and designed to make you think about the stuff the makes up the daily diet called life.

I have a hunch that Kandiah is going to write a lot more, and if this book is anything to go by, the church will be enriched by some unique insights into truths that don't have a sell-by date but always benefit from re-packaging.

Short, sharp, easy to read chapters with really useful suggestions.

Ian Coffey, (Spring Harvest and Moorlands) -- Christianity Magazine, 2007

From the Publisher

"At last a book that helps me to worship God in all that I do - from work to recreation and from shopping to eating. Theologically driven and practically earthed, consistently entertaining yet deeply challenging - this gem of a book is a great antidote to wordly conformity and unbiblical
piety. This is an urgently needed resource to help God's people live
authentic, joined up lives to the glory of God. I commend it wholeheartedly."

Richard Cunningham, UCCF

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME! 4 Nov 2008
Twenty- four is AMAZING!

Its a must-read for any one with..a life!
It really helped me get through my 3rd yr at uni (finals and lots of other responsibilites and problems to deal with) Understanding that i had every hr of my life to use to glorify God is a hard lesson, but is TRUE and needs to be practiced and prayed about every day! (every hr!)

I have since passed it on to 1) a friend who was struggling last yr, with prioritising and gettin God into her WHOLE life. 2) a full time mum of two (under 2 yr olds!) who cant seem to find time for God (but the book helped amazingly) and 3) 3 friends who have just started full-time work and who feel they are rushing around and compartmentalising God in their lives more than ever. They are reading it now and its great to see them experiencin more of God in their everyday lives :)

I dont know anyone who doesnt like the book. Rather, they hold on to it every day- if even just to remind them to keep seekin God in every hr of life!

Buy it now! do it!
God uses it to help u love Him more, every hr of every day, in every thing you do, "christian" or "normal"- all for God's glory!!

I really loved this book. It is a hugely enjoyable read and has an impressively substantial content. Krish has written this book to help the reader integrate faith into every area of life looking at activities such as leisure, work, commuting, exercise, shopping and sleeping. He provides a penetrating analysis culminating in a helpful practical conclusion at the end of each chapter. As a pastor I have recommended this to people in my church as an invaluable tool to enable them to have a Christian world-view and to live out their faith in contemporary society.

One of the best books on how to live for Christ in our everyday lives I've read! The chapters are a breakdown of an acerage day, and Krish talks in detail, in his informal and easy to read style, on how we make make God number 1 in that area of our lives. There are great little sections at the end giving pieces of music and other books from both Christian and Secular society to stimulate further thought and ideas on what we could do in that area of the day.

I would say that for any christian who is serious about taking their faith further, and drawing closer to God in their everyday, it is a great read...for me it was a must!

5.0 out of 5 stars Twenty Four 29 Sep 2010
I am on my second re-read - This book is truly amazing. Worshipping God 24/7 in everything we do can be a challenge, where to start, how to start, with this book in your hand the path is blown open for you. If you think you already follow that idea, think again and try it the Twenty-Four way! From the time you first turn over to switch off the alarm every morning your thought process will be altered as you read each chapter. Eating, working, travelling even shopping everything you do will have new meaning and direction. Buy this book and take the challenge - it is not easy but it will make a difference.
I am hoping to use it in a group situation at our church - I just can't stop talking about it and so far have not let it out of my sight! This book is easy to read and understand. It will activate something in the reader. Awesome book!

No matter what stage of the Christian journey we are on, Krish has plenty of original ideas for how we can live a godly life in the next 24 hours. This includes ideas for how to eat breakfast, how to use time spent in traffic effectively, and how to approach everyday needs such as food and sleep. Krish reminds us that every second of our day, however mundane, can be worship for God and how we relate to others and welcome them into our homes is all important as we seek to honour God with our lives. Holy living no longer becomes something that we aspire to, but is unattainable, it becomes something that we can start right here, right now, as we pour the next cup of tea. Krish includes an eclectic mix of books and songs to help us along the way, including Jamie Oliver's Naked Chef to help us prepare godly food in the kitchen for friends and neighbours. This is a must-read for anyone who believes that Christian living is about Monday to Satuday, as well as Sunday.
