A good selection of classic sci fi stories of the 50's and 60's. Obviously the stories are now dated but they are still very readable and enjoyable if taken as examples of pulp sci fi of that era. Unfortunately the book is somewhat spoilt by poor formatting with no book `cover', no breaks between stories, no linked contents page and occasional line formatting errors. I would give it 8/10 for content but only 3/10 for presentation. Nevertheless I would recommend this collection for buffs of vintage sci fi.

Most of these were good to me. Others might like a different combination depending on individual tastes.
Science has moved on a lot since these were written and some ideas have been overtaken by later knowledge.
But mainly an entertaing read.

The first story in this collection, The Machine That Saved the World, is a great introduction to classic sci-fi, and I found the adjective "un-putdownable" a worthy one. I believe the other stories to be of a similar quality, so I'm looking forward to those too. The atmosphere conjured up while reading brings back memories of the movie "Forbidden Planet".

The book formatting though is poor though, and I'd say that you have to be a pretty dedicated fan of the genre to overcome this and finish the entire collection. If you're okay with that, then go ahead and buy. If the publisher could fix the formatting I'd give it at least an extra star.

I used to read loads of Science fiction books in the 1960's/70's
reading the ones from the 1950's is simply amazing.
Having read almost all the Stories in twelve Amazing Science Fiction,
stories from the 50's and 60's is simply Awesome!.
a wonderful read to relax with.

Thanks to Amazon.

Definitely one for the vintage SF fan. These stories demonstrate how difficult it is to predict the future; socially and technologically. Beware of futurologists.

I enjoyed some of the stories in this collection more than others, hence the three star rating. Worth a look if you like stories from this classic SF period.

I really enjoyed reading this collection. It took me back over 50 years to the time I used to read the SF stories in magazines my Dad used to buy!

excellent for a nostalgic elderly person, some of the best from the past.Short enough not to lose interest, long enough to tell the story.
