This was a small specialised gadget to allow me to watch BBC i-player on my television. Arrived quickly, easy to set up and use. TVonics not only have a fantastically designed Freeview box, this item adds to its capabilities.

This Product was really easy to set up. I got it out of the box and all I had to do was connect the usb stick into the Tvonix product and then put in my wi fi detales and I had instant access to the Iplayer with no fus. Because there are no wires involved it is very neet and tidy to use as it just sits in the back of the Tvonics freeview box. The Wi fi reception on this device is very good as well. All in all a fantastic product.

This little dongle works very well, although you do need a strong signal from your wireless router. Mine is situated in another room some 30ft away from my TV in the lounge, but I got a 52% signal from my TVonics Recorder albeit it required to work from the front USB socket, not the rear one. When researching a wireless donlge, most reports say cheaper dongles are not worth the money & one should expect to have to pay 3 or 4 times the price of this one., but this one proved to be the exception to that rule.
As gathered from my comments, I am very pleased with it & can recommend it if you have or about to buy the TVonics Z500 Recorder.

This was my most dreadful purchase from Amazon EVER - a total waste of money and I wished I had never bought it. The item seems to be redundant, so if you want to avoid my experience, don't buy it. I plugged it into my TVonics digital recorder bought from John Lewis about a year ago, switched my Wi-Fi on and it immediately searched and found the signal. However, I entered the code for the Wi-Fi, but when it tried to verify the connection, it failed. I tried to do it manually, but with no success. I then went and spoke to John Lewis who told me that without a software update for the dongle, it wouldn't work! I had to update the dongle software, but that was impossible as the firm had gone bust, something that I only discovered soon after I bought the recorder. I got in touch with the firm that acquired the remnants of TVonics after it had gone bust, but they didn't have the necessary software update and suggested that I might search to see if I could find someone who had saved it. So there we are, a complete failure and in the light of this experience I cannot understand why this item is on sale. I am compelled to give it just one star as the delivery was fine, but if you want to upgrade your recorder to link with Wi-Fi, forget it. Otherwise the recorder is great and works fine with the new HD TV we bought from John Lewis which does connect with our WI-FI.

This is a really basic USB wifi dongle and does just what it states to receive BBC iPlayer, my personal opinion is that because that dongle is used only for this facility it is a waste of money, however if in the future this can receive future internet things that allow better interaction then that would be great otherwise as stated it just a waste of good money.

It works, what more can I say ? Bought the Humax Freeview box and saw the dongle was an option. Well worth getting to allow me to watch iPlayer on my old TV.

Purchased to allow my TVonics DTR-Z500D to connect to the Internet. Set up was straightforward and additional channels are now accessible. Also allows connection to BBC iPlayer (via red button on remote control). Good value.
