Product Description

Product Description

This is a complete model-by-model guide to all the cars produced by Blackpool-based TVR, from the earliest 'specials' built in the early 1950s by founder Trevor Wilkinson to the latest muscular supercars. TVRs have always stood out from the crowd, as much for their innovation as for their spectacular styling. In this smartly designed book, written by an obsessive TVR enthusiast, each model is described and illustrated, with details of development, evolution and specifications - and along the way the sometimes subtle differences between variants are untangled. This book is essential reading for all TVR enthusiasts and sports car fans.

About the Author

Iain Ayre is a freelance motoring writer, with a special interest in TVR. He contributes to many UK and US motoring magazines and has written several books, including Haynes's well-received Kit Car Manual. He lives in British Columbia, Canada.

We bought this for our son. He is on his second TVR, one of the older models. He was chuffed to bits with the detailed descriptions, many excellent photographs and informed comments. A good pressie for the TVR enthusiast.

Best Intro to the World's Best Super Cars 28 Jan 2008
By British Thunder 13 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
A great piece to read that is very informative, yet entertaining as well. The author does a great job of covering the entire history of TVR Cars right up till the Spring of 2007. Iain Ayre should be commended for not just writing a bland tech spec book, or another collection of road tests; but for writing a technically interesting piece that puts things in laymans terms for those who are truly being introduced to the marque for the first time. Mr. Ayre reflects some of his personnal views in a "at the pub" sort of way that really relaxes the reading and draws the reader into the cars even more.
I fell in love with TVRs 15 years ago while in my late teens, and own several books on the legendary cars. I rate this book the best overall for it's extreme ease of reading and an excellent format. I would say it is an ABSOLUTE MUST READ for all TVR enthusiasts as well as any individual just getting into these fine British sports cars.
nice book for the coffee table 27 Jun 2011

Great pictures, writing is so-so. Entire paragraphs are cut and paste in various sections of the book. Good for the coffee table, but there are more informative publications on TVR. I leave it in the back of my TVR so curious individuals who are trying to determine if the car is a Triumph or a kit get a view of TVR's modern work.
