For a comprehensive collection of the most original compositions for the series The Prisoner this is a very good release indeed.
The music score for the series comes from more than one composer and this gives us richness in music texture and styles. This release is excellent. It contains a wealth of music form across the entire series. The sound is mono but it is very good and it is also the original music used on the TV series and not a re recording.

The Prisoner soundtrack has music from more than one composer. The main theme is from Ron Grainer. This is a fabulous theme and it is now iconic in its own right.
Ron Grainer had previously composed music for TV including Doctor Who. He later worked on other British shows such as Man in a suitcase, Tales of the unexpected and he also composed for films,
The rest of the music comes from mainly Albert Elms an English composer who worked mainly in TV and films. His music for this show appears in 14 of the 17 episodes. He also worked on other shows such as incidental music for Man in a Suitcase and the Champions.
Robert Farnon was from Canada but later made Britain his home. He wrote music cues for orchestra and was an arranger as well as composing classical music. Wilfred Josephs is another English Composer and there are many great contributions to the Prisoner from both composers here on this set.

In the TV series there were other pieces of music that were already established compositions by various composers and they were not original to the Prisoner. Most of these came from library stock and are not included here. This release focuses mainly on the original compositions.

Interesting to hear all the music - used and unused - from this fantastic and most unusual series. Three CDs to listen to, along with some very intersting and intensive notes about the making of this music. Pretty comprehensive.

Marvelous! 30 Sep 2002

I recently played the trivia game on Silvascreen.com, and I won the whole set. So cool. Every time I listen to it, I always feel the good memories that I have for the show. It's really cool when they throw in the dialogue here and there, then it becomes imperative that you have to say the lines with the cd.

Captures the atmosphere of the series and era superbly. 5 July 1998

A wonderful collection of music from the Sixties cult TV show - The Prisoner. Ron Grainer and Albert Elms again do a superb job with fast paced incidental music, and mellow background music, which capture the atmosphere of the TV series, and the era perfectly. Also interesting is the alternative TV theme, which was rejected fo the actual series. A further 2 volumes follow, which again are well worth checking out.

Many Unpublished Rare Tracks 5 Mar 2013
By Larry D. Grimm - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Listening to these songs and clips pinpoints my memory to those great episodes and leads the imagination to re-live the experience. Great compilation of "Prisoner" music - many tracks hand picked by Patrick McGoohan himself. That alone would be a four star rating, but for any true Prisoner enthusiast, the Prisoner Music Bible which accompanies the set, and was only available in the UK during the two years of its printing, is a fascinating keep-sake!
