After reading some of the mixed reviews about this product I was somewhat hesitant. However I needn't have worried. The main reason for buying this instead of the Wacom would be for the vastly increased resolution you get for your money (about 2000 dots per inch compared to 600 dots per inch on the A6 sized Wacom. This means that you can work with a far higher degree of pixel by pixel accuracy if that is what you need.

The previous reviewer complained about the pressure required to activate the pen. I suspect that she has failed to adjust the pressure sensitivity setting in the tablet properties(if you go to the button menu adjust pressure click value to zero). Also all the software I have used also has an option to change the sensitivity setting. With the pressure sensitivity setting set to maximum it is possible to draw with very little direct physical pressure.

After four months the battery in the pen has not needed to be replaced and the build quality has been absolutely fine. All in all pretty good value for money.

As an introduction to graphics tablets, this can't be beaten. The huge workspace is great for detail, but is the reason some people find the tablet slow. The software included lets you reduce the work area to a smaller section of the pad meaning you can whip around the screen with less arm movement. I use the tablet on a PC at home and a mac at work. The tablet doesn't work perfectly on Mac until you install the driver, which isn't readily available but if you email Trust and ask for the file: Pen Pad (OSX 10.2.5 or above ).app.sitx.zip everything should work perfectly. The pen quality is a little poor, and the battery in the top half causes it to be oddly weighted. But overall this is brilliant value considering the difference in price to a Wacom.

At this price point there is no way you can fault the guys at trust, it does the job more than adequately. The pen feels better than the older model, it's well balanced and weighted. I'd say though it's a bit to easy to click while drawing, but that may be because of the way I grip my pen.
If you're looking for more precision and control(and can afford it) then absolutely buy a wacom but if you're like my on a budget this tablet absolves itself well.
Beware as of today (06-10-05) trust has not yet released an updated driver for CS2 although they have assured me that a release is iminent. So for now it is not of much use if you are using CS2 (it will work but no dynamics).
