I have tried 2 of these machines. They are easy to assemble if you are familiar with similar equipment but the instructions provided would be of little use to a new user. And be aware that the choke is labelled the wrong way round. But both machines started first time and worked without fault for 2 tanks of fuel. Then the first one couldn't be started - the recoil starter jammed and was impossible to pull. There were also signs of leaking from several gaskets. I re-packed the unit and returned it to Trueshopping, who eventually provided a replacement several weeks later.
The second machine also worked fine for 2 tanks of fuel. Then it stalled, would only start with full choke even when the engine was warm, wouldn't idle and died every time the throttle was opened. On checking the fuel filter, I found it detached and sitting at the bottom of the fuel tank. The filter was also the wrong one - a web search showed that it was suitable only for up to 25cc engines. On dismantling the carburettor, I found that the diaphragm was useless and detached bits of the filter material were blocking the jet. The spark plug was also oiled up - the recommended 25:1 ratio is too oily; if you use semi-synthetic 2-stroke the correct ratio is more like 40:1. Anyway, with a new diaphragm, proper fuel filter and 40:1 mix it is now working fine again.
In conclusion, this is basically a good powerful machine let down by poor quality control. Don't buy it if you want something that runs out of the box with minimal attention and you are prepared to pay the necessary price premium for such equipment. But if you are used to DIY servicing, maintenance and repairs - or are willing to learn - this will give you a powerful piece of kit at less than a third of the price of the major brands. Your choice!
