Works great, straight out of the box with no installation needed, even on ubuntu (10.10). Some minimal keyboard shortcut configuration might be needed. The remote itself looks good (not too cheap), the build quality is decent. All in all, for the price, a great product.

I bought this simply for the IR receiver (although the remote itself does everything quite well, sturdy unit).
It took me a couple of hours but I've got it working for my Logitech Harmony 300i and XBMC Live (Ubuntu).
When programming the Harmony 300i remote simply choose these settings Manufacturer: Chinavision Model: CVSB-983

This remote control is simple and easy to set up - with no installation needed. It's even easier to use and, with its variety of buttons, you can do most things on your computer with it. It takes 2x AAA batteries, which are easy enough to find (I hate having to find unusual batteries like iPod batteries).
One fault is that the sensor can be slightly temperamental, but that's only at a distance of more than about 10m.
Overall, I think this is a fantastic product - what fantastic value!

It makes your computer wake up from standby
This remote would be ok and the price is more than ok, but the infrared receiver that you connect to your computer causes the computer to wake up from standby by itself! Read more
