TRIXES 150W WATT USB Car Power Inverter DC 12V to AC 220V

It arrived one week earlier than the seller's estimated delivery date, which is excellent delivery service by the seller.

It looks neat and business-like and worked straight out of the jiffy bag.

It's fan is not silent but it is not too noisy if you have some background music playing or you are travelling (in a car, etc.), which is the main reason why I bought it: to power and charge my netbook pc.

It stayed nicely cold throughout my first use of it for about an hour. Most of its external housing is finned - to make it a good radiator - and its fan sounds really powerful - so I'm expecting it to stay cool for long periods of use. The separate USB socket should be good for charging my 3G WiFi "personal hotspot" that I use with my netbook and it will also be used to charge mp3 players, etc.

The only reason I'm not immediately giving it a 5-star rating is that a standard UK 13 amp plug doesn't fit 100% correctly. The inverter unit accepts the plug's pins and connects to them firmly but the plug cannot be pressed-in all the way: about 2mm of the 13 amp plug's pins stay clear of the socket, no matter how hard you push it in. This is not actually unsafe (because the live and neutral pins are well-insulated at their roots) but it doesn't properly conform to the UK standard and doesn't look quite right. But nevertheless £16.85 is a good price for a 150 watt inverter which has such good build quality in all other respects, so it is worth a 4-star rating I think.

Note: I reserve my right to edit this review if anything goes wrong with this unit in the first year I own it.

I bought this gadget because in my field of work, i use my laptop extensively in the car while on the move. The laptop battery goes down after a maximum of 2 hours. There was the need to get an inverter which would guarantee me some power to keep the laptop on. This inverter has proved to be just what i needed. It is so easy to connect, and does exactly what it has to do.

Cheap, cheery and only a few caveats.

I used this on a week long camping/road trip so we could charge things as we went. It didn't have a problem charging a macbook air, 150W is plenty for laptops, phones, tablets, etc. Don't try a hairdryer though. A warning that you probably shouldn't run this without the engine on for very long, made that mistake and had to jump start the car the following morning.

Although it's comforting that it has a fan for cooling, it was by far the most annoying part of the device. The blades must have been fouling a component on the inside because it would make noises like an animal dying. A smart tap on the dashboard usually fixed it. I meant to take a screwdriver to it one of these days. It never got hot or overheated so thumbs up there.

The USB charger is mediocre and I'll dock a star for that. Although it will operate without the engine running, it's very low power and we found it easier to use a proper 2A phone charger plugged into the mains socket.

It seems to be well built, sturdy, but the cigarette plug is a bit flimsy and was prone to falling out. In general it's a good product, it does what it says it'll do. Recommended if you need a cheap source of AC when you're on the move.

Perfect for the job. Powers the TV/DVD player in the camper van and the USB socket is useful for small device charging

Purchased this to power dvd players and laptops in the car during the long journey to and from the French Alps - worked perfectly!

It is solidly made and the integral fan kept the device cool. The addition of a USB charge point was an added and welcome bonus

Highly recommended for quality and price

This item was despatched quickly and was as expected from the description and photo. We have used it and it appears to meet our needs. We are happy with this inverter and would recommend both it and the seller.

I was a little disappointed with this. The plugs don't push all the way in and it only works with certain devices. For example, worked fine with my iPhone 5, but wouldn't charge my iPad. Buy cheap, but twice.
