Introducing the World’s First 450Mbps Router

TRENDnet's 450Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router, redefines wireless router performance. This router's raw horsepower seamlessly streams HD movies to your entertainment centre, transfers content from countless users, and generates record wireless coverage that you can rely on. Enjoy rapid wired data transfer of up to 450Mbps through its Gigabit Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) ports, so you can send files, emails etc. without those tediously long processing and loading times. Advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology with three spatial streams per each of the 3 antennae generates a maximum theoretical wireless throughput, so you can experience a consistently reliable, strong signal and optimum speeds whilst having the freedom to move through your home without fear of dead spots.

Keep your data protected as Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported wireless adapters at the touch of a button, whilst the latest in wireless encryption and a secure firewall protect your digital network and help you to keep valuable or confidential data safe.

WMM® Quality of Service (QoS) technology prioritises gaming, Internet calls, and video streams, whilst LEDs on the front of the router convey the device status. There is even embedded GREENnet technology to reduce power consumption and help cut down both your energy bills and your carbon footprint. However intensive your digital life is, this wireless N Gigabit Router will not disappoint.

Enough connection options for any home
This router includes power and wifi on/off switches, allowing you to easily manage your usage without unplugging the device. Click here to see a larger image.
Wireless N

The Wireless N Gigabit Router gives you access to a whole new level of connectivity. Wireless-N is the next generation of wireless standard after "G", and increases both the range and speed of your connection to allow you to connect effectively from anywhere within the house. When used with a 450Mbps-enabled adapter, you can experience some of the fastest connection speeds available, but even with a standard wireless-N adapter you can connect at up to 300Mps. It's also backwards compatible, so it will be able to connect to any IEEE 802.11g or IEEE 802.11b devices you may have at home as easily as it would to IEEE 802.11n.

GREENnet technology

With increasingly connected lives, routers are turning into one of the most-use devices in the household. As many people leave their routers continually powered, the Wireless N Gigabit Router features embedded GREENnet technology to help reduce power consumption. This technology reduces port-based power consumption by up to 70%, and combined with an Energy Star-rated power adapter, you can be safe in the knowledge that this router is working to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Smart Connectivity

The Wireless N Gigabit Router features advanced Quality of Service (QoS) support, including Uplink speed control, IP prioritisation, and Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM). What this means is that your Wi-Fi connection will automatically prioritise important traffic such as streaming video, audio or gaming, meaning you get uninterrupted enjoyment from online content, even on a busy connection.

Wireless N has a greater range and faster speeds than Wireless G

Advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Technology

Even a strong wireless signal can leave you with dead spots around your home. With the use of multiple antennas sending and three signals per antenna, the Wireless N Gigabit Router can help solve this problem, leaving you with a consistently strong and reliable connection in more places throughout the building.

Easy Data Protection with WPS

Everyone is concerned with data security, so to make it easier to stop your signal from getting snooped on the Wireless N Gigabit Router comes with Wireless Protected Setup (WPS). This technology means it couldn't be easier to add new devices to your secure home network. If you have a WPS enabled adapter, such as the TRENDnet TEW-649UB Wireless N Adapter, simply press the WPS button on both devices to automatically set up the new adapter into your home network, allowing you to bypass entering a code and get online just that bit quicker.

3 Year Warranty

The Wireless N Gigabit Router comes with a generous 3 year limited warranty, so even if you lead an ultra-connected life, you can have peace of mind.

The user interface is ok as is the overall device performance (when it works), no complaints there but the hardware is very flaky.
Mine has now started to fail and requires regular daily reboots / hard-resets and I am about to embark on a warranty claim exercise.
I do regret buying this router and it is not a brand I would buy again in future and I would actively advise others to steer clear of Trendnet products.

I highly recommended my friend purchases a TrendNet router after having such great success with the TrendNet 150 Mbps Wireless-N Home Router myself and so I purchased this 450Mbps Wireless Router off here for them (their old one is broken and currently have no internet access).
What can I say, they couldn't be happier with this product. Yet another great product from TrendNet! The product that we received DID have a UK plug unlike the other reviewer who seemed a bit unfortunate receiving a Euro one. I think the issue here is in who is supplying it at the time as there are a number of companies/suppliers who sell through Amazon (listed to the right at the top of the page). We purchased ours direct from Amazon (I know this as it stated dispatched and sold from Amazon at the top of the page under the price) so I was pretty sure it would have a UK plug, but just glancing at the other sellers I can see that some of them are European suppliers (e.g. Avides) and these are probably responsible for supplying European and not UK plugs. Just something to keep an eye on when purchasing one - check who is dispatching it.

With regards to the product, the connection is fast and the signal is strong with a very good range that reaches all around the house and does not diminish if you are in a different room or on a different floor. I have been able to connect to my friend's wireless via my phone whilst sitting in the kitchen (which is completely the opposite side of the house from the router) and have still achieved perfect signal and connection. Makes a nice change to some of the low cost or free routers you get with broadband deals that keep cutting out and need resetting every 5 minutes!!

Received this today and opened the box only to find that it comes with a Euro 2 pin type adaptor. Amazon should have noted this. Im sure the router works well but will have to send it back. Shame. Looks smart and well built.
Comes complete with an physical wireless switch on the rear and a physical power switch to turn off when not in use. Very handy. Just a shame about the Euro power plug. Seems Amazon took delivery of models destined for Europe.

I have also received the wrong power adapter from Amazon. Subsequently their Fulfillment Centre said it should have been the correct UK 3 pin type. Sent it back for replacement but Amazon then refunded not replaced. Have reordered via seller Crescentdirect - and also sent them message from account orders page telling them to ensure it is supplied with correct plug. Already have the earlier Trendnet 300mps model and it is great hence this purchase.TRENDnet 450Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router

Great Router! Worth the investment! 20 Oct. 2010

If you are at least a casual gamer and you already have a network, like we do, make the investment into this router. Yes, i know, it's a little on the expensive side, but it works great for me. As soon as I connected my xbox, I had full bars, better than even a direct connect on my 350 Mbps router. I could have my xbox, pc, laptop, & iPhone connected either directly or via WiFi, and I would still get no lag when I played on-line games or watched videos.

Only one minor downside, you can't have more than one console running an extensive on-line game, like Left 4 Dead 2 or Modern Warfare 2. It has disconnected me twice when I tried. those games just hog up too much bandwidth.

Overall, this is the best investment I have ever made in regards to my computing/gaming needs. I highly recommend it.

Connection Speed went up from 13Mbps to 25Mbps just by installing it! 30 Nov. 2010

I thought I had a fast internet connection at around 13 to 15 Mbps in a normal day until I connected with this router and noticed an increase of almost 100% in the connection speed! When I saw that 25 to 26 Mbps in the speed test I was ecstatic to say the least. I'm getting these speeds using an OLD D-Link cable modem that is rated at 38Mbps...I can't imagine how my speeds are going to be when I get the new Motorola Cable Modem with DOCSIS 3.0 that I just purchased which is rated at 160Mbps!

Keep in mind, like I hinted on my previous line, the wireless router by itself will NOT give you the SUPER speeds. You need 4 things working perfectly together: A fast Internet Service, a fast modem, a fast router and a fast card on your computer; and by fast I mean that they need to be capable of handling these new technologies and be rated at the speeds that you want or are able to achieve. If you get those 4 together correctly in this day and age, you are looking EASILY at a connection speed of AT LEAST 50 to 60 Mbps...which is CRAZY FAST!

The only piece missing for me is the fast cable modem and it is on its way to me. As for this router, it has VERY NICE features like EXTREMELY EASY TO INSTALL: I basically connected mine following the instructions and I was connected already without even changing any settings. I went from box to working in around 30 minutes. It only works on the 2.4 GHz band (no 5 GHz support), has extremely good range, offers the best available network security features so nobody steals your internet signal, and the best for me: THREE YEARS WARRANTY! Can't beat that! You can have peace of mind knowing that you have three years to fly through the internet until you go numb and, if anything happens, your router will still have warranty!

For this price (I purchased it on the Black Friday Weekend for an absurd low price) it is a STEAL! Highly RECOMMENDED!

So Easy to Program and Use! 3 Nov. 2010

I have had a wireless network in my home for years now, so my D-Link 300Mbps N Router finally died after years of abuse. My first ever TRENDnet purchase was the TRENDnet Wireless N Gaming Adapter to use with a non-WiFi bluray player and was pleased with the quality and function-ability of it. Since I was so pleased with it, I decided to purchase a wireless router by TRENDnet. Am I ever happy I made this decision! First of all, the price for a 450 Mbps WiFi Router for less two-hundred dollars is a steal currently. At first I thought I was doing something wrong since it was so easy to program. It pretty much does everything on it's own. If you are worried you will not be able to get this set-up, don't fuss because this by far is the easiest router I have ever installed.

I have a large family so we have (3)PSP, (2)Wii, (1)XBox, (2)network bluray players, (3)laptops, (2)iPod Touch, iPad, (1)iMac, and finally (2)desktop computers using this router throughout my home. The signal is strong and stays constant. I previously had a signal booster antenna with my previous router but with the TRENDnet TEW-691GR the signal is so strong that I no longer needed the extra antenna.

Decent router 9 Jan. 2011

This purchase was a upgrade for my Linksys WRT54G. I have a fiber connection & rarely had a problem with my Linksys but I was looking for a router that could handle streaming video a little better & this router caught my eye. Out of the box this router was very disappointing, it was constantly dropping a wired connection. I was aware of reviews cautioning against this router for that very reason so I wasn't completely surprised but very disappointed. I checked all the basics & even fired up the old linksys, I came to the conclusion that it was definitely the new router that was the problem. I went to TRENDnet's website & noticed there was a firmware update perhaps a glimmer of hope. I actually filled out a Helpdesk technical support form & got the the response fairly quickly. The response instructed me to go ahead & update the Firmware then do a master reset on the router, kinda what I figured. So I went ahead with the Firmware update & performed a master reset. One word of advice on the Firmware update the folder that you download from TRENDnet contains a BIN file which is the actual file you need for the update. I directed the router to browse the downloaded folder which contained the BIN file & it failed to find it, I have done this many times with Windows with no problems never had to direct it to the actual file but the folder that contains it. I say this because the Firmware update stopped when it didn't find the file & that's not good, fortunately I was able to recover & successfully update the Firmware. Since the update & master reset the router has been rock solid. I do notice my wired connection seems to be quicker. My wireless connection to a laptop travels from the second floor to the first floor & through one wall. The wireless connection since the update has been rock solid. One other note the people complaining about dropped connections I wonder how many updated there Firmware, Just a thought.

Pass on this router 28 April 2011

If you have a very simple networking environment this router will perform well.

The router is well made and does not generate a lot of heat. Unfortunately, the router did not perform well in my environment. I had 10 wireless devices transmitting large amounts of data simultaneously with 2 wired devices. Everything worked great until the LAN ports sort of faded out.

The issue here is how much bandwidth is available inside the router. In other words, what is the maximum amount of data that can go across the WAN, LAN, and wireless interfaces simultaneously? In my case, the limiting factor seemed to be the WAN-to-LAN interfaces. The router seemed to give a preference to the WAN-to-wireless interfaces.

The router does not seem designed for the modern household. The router does not allow the end user to create VLANs or come with a ready-to-go "guest" network. The router also doesn't allow for subnets like That sort of functionality should exist in this class of router.

After much testing I returned the router to Amazon because it didn't fit in my network. Fortunately, the return process was painless.
