Product Description

Style Name: 150Mbps Wireless N

Product Description

What This Product Does

TP-Link TL-WN751ND is designed to provide a complete end-to-end wireless performance from the server or server backbone to the switch infrastructure and down through to the desktop with the PCI connector. TL-WN751ND Wireless N PCI Adapter provides a wider compatibility, fitting with any standard 32-bit PCI slot. Compared with standard PCI network cards, it offers increased bandwidth, reliability and more functionality, allowing you to enjoy a fast and advanced connection, such as downloading, making internet call and video streaming.

Wireless N -Speed & Range

Complying with the IEEE 802.11n standard, TL-WN751ND can easily establish a wireless network and get up to 9X the speed and 4X the range of conventional 11g products. Compared with legacy 54M products, TL-WN751ND delivers performance enhancements, allowing you to have a more joyful surfing experience, including sharing files, watching streaming media.

WPA/WPA2 Encryptions - Advanced Security

As for the security of WI-FI connection, WEP encryption has been no longer the strongest and safest guards for outside intrusions. TL-WN751ND provides WPA/WPA2 encryptions that are created by the WI-FI Alliance industry group, preventing the wireless network from outside threats.

WPS - Wi-Fi Protected Setup

The TL-WN751ND features Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) function that allows users to almost instantly setup their security and prevent outside intrusion. The "WPS" function automatically establishing a WPA2 secure connection, which is more security compared with WEP encryptions. Not only is this faster than normal security setups but more convenient in that you don’t need to remember a password!

Detachable Antenna

TL-WN751ND offers an external antenna that can be rotated and adjusted in different directions to fit various operation environments, and can bring better performance than the internal antenna. For even more demanding applications, the antenna can be replaced with diverse antennas to show even greater flexibility and wider wireless coverage.

I was having problems with another budget priced PCI card by Edimax - basically every so often I'd reboot my PC, and the card wouldn't be recognised. Eventually I tired of having to reboot repeatedly (as the problem became worse over time) just to get a working wireless connection (and, in case you're now wondering - indeed I tried reinstalling my Edimax multiple times too). It just never was reliable enough, so I bought this TP Link to replace it. The good news is it's brilliantly reliable. Hasn't given any operating trouble since I installed it nearly two months ago. However I cannot give it five stars for the following reason which other reviewers have strangely overlooked: Its supplied aerial is very very weak in its wireless reception. Using the default aerial I am getting a signal strength of an average of 38% when my router is only 4 meters away!! Yes, you read that right. That is, in other words, poor performance.

Because this was seriously affecting the speeds I was getting, and that I recalled that my (very similarly priced) Edimax PCI card's reception was so much stronger, I had the brainwave earlier today, to swap the aerial supplied with this TP Link card and screw in instead, the aerial which came with my former Edimax card. I suspected that this was an aerial and not a card issue. And I was right.

Not just right, the results were quite unbelievable - signal strength in exactly the same position of computer and router has jumped from 38% average to averages between 80 and 82%!

Style Name: 150Mbps Wireless N Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I ordered this card to allow me to move my sons desktop computer into his room where there is no wired connection. This seemed to be a very cost effective way to do it. It came in retail packaging along with a driver disk and a printed quick start guide. The Device drivers were easy to install and the device then was recognised first time into Windows 7.

The card supports the N standard and is also compatible with the older and slower wireless B and G standards but it should be noted that the N standard is only supported at 2.4GHz and not 5GHz. This may be an issue as some routers are given the choice to broadcast wireless N on 5GHz to reduce congestion. However the adapter peered with my BT Home Hub 3 which is a 2.4GHz device anyway and seems to work well so far. Good product and great value.

I picked up one of these a few months back after my long serving tp-link USB adapter died.

First of i installed this on windows XP and it went well although i did use the drivers on the disc once only to connect to internet so i could download the latest ones from TP-link and i had no problems. I then installed windows 7 a few months later and it went 100% better showing me the available networks i could connected to during installation just before i had even loaded into windows 7 for the first time so that was good. I even loaded Fedora linux for a dual boot and it worked straight away even without installing fedora so i can safely say this is the most compatible product i've had yet.

As for speed i borrowed a tp-link N router from a friend to do some proper speed tests as i only have a tp-link G router at the moment and it worked super fast. Even using a G router i was impressed because although i was capped by the speed of the router i managed to get a better signal and a more constant signal as well as a higher speed than i had with my wireless G USB adapter.

All in all i'd say this a great product considering how cheap it is and since it works out the box with windows 7 and fedora without any installation as well as with XP using the disc you can't get a product that is as compatible as this. Will be buying another for my father which will be replacing his much more expensive and worse performing d-link card.

I don't quite know why others have had any problems with this network card. I've purchased two now, one for me and one for my brother. They both work flawlessly - both on Windows 7 64-bit.

In fact, they installed using standard Microsoft drivers. Didn't even need to use the CD that came with it.

Those people who claim that their data speeds are not what they thought they would be: either your router is capping the speed (if your router is only 54Mbps, then no matter how good the wireless card is, this will bottleneck everything), or there are interference problems. Certainly, irrespective of data speeds, this card has proven to give good range for reception.

    I can't fault it.

    [EDIT]

I've since discovered that the drivers for the card seem to struggle badly with certain routers. I recently changed routers and even though I was only a few feet from the router, my signal strength reduced from 5 bars down to 3, and I couldn't get any 802.11n speeds out of it. I've no idea why. I've since replaced this card with

    Edimax EW-7612PIN 300Mbps Wireless PCI-E Adapter

    and this works _perfectly_.
