Product Description

TP-Link AV200+ Multi-Streaming Powerline Adapter with AC Pass Through - TL-PA251

Up to 200Mbps Speed Over 300 Meters

With advanced HomePlug AV technology, the TL-PA251 can provide users with a stable high-speed data transfer rate of up to 200Mbps over a household electric circuit for up to 300 meters. The TL-PA251 is an ideal choice for a whole home solution to connect all network compatible devices -- from computers and game consoles to set-top boxes for IPTV to printers and NAS hard drives.

Extra Power Socket for Additional Devices

With its integrated power socket, the TL-PA251 provides convenience for your home network. The integrated power socket allows an additional device or power bar to be connected to the adapter as though it were a normal wall socket. This ensures that even with the TL-PA251 plugged in, no power outlet is going to waste.

Plug and Play

You can set-up a hassle-free Powerline network within minutes with TP-Link's powerline adapters, just plug in and play. Also, the adapters' 'Pair' buttons can be utilised for securing or managing multiple powerline adapters in your home network.

  1. Plug one Internet connected adapter into a nearby power outlet
  2. Connect additional adapters to PCs/laptops/Internet TVs or other networked devices via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi

Note* Powerline adapters must be deployed in set of two or more.

Reduce Power Consumption by up to 75%

The TL-PA251KIT, with its practical design and 'Power-Saving' mode, will automatically switch from 'Working' mode to 'Power-Saving' mode, which will reduce energy consumption by up to 75%.

Mains Filter for Better Performance

With its integrated mains filter, the TL-PA251 can optimise powerline communication performance by suppressing noise interference generated by surrounding electronic equipment that can affect network performance. That means that you won't experience a sudden speed drop when a larger power consuming device is plugged into the power socket.

Now have three of these for my home network. They work really well and of course you don't lose a socket. Instructions say they need to be paired (this is easy enough to do) but mine worked straight from the box without doing this.

i must have for anyone in a house with lots of people. i live with 6 other people and i have the attic room, which means i am the furthest away from the wifi hub. Meaning i get awful to no internet through the wifi. This device has given me up to 50mb no mater who else is on the internet. As a side note you will need another of these devices to put the internet into the electric supply, i already had one so i only bought one. You can also have multiple around the house, except it will cut in half the internet that you can get through it. There are more expensive versions out there but this does the same job, easy to set up no problems at all so far. The type with the plug is very useful if you don't want to loose a plug socket.

This product works and is great for providing fast internet access anywhere in your house with a power socket.

However, despite advertising as 500mbs the actual network connector is only 100mbs. Not a problem for your broadband internet connection (4mbs-80mbs) but for more substantial home networking it isn't quite up to scratch.

Great for basic internetting and day to day use, will cope with video streaming from a NAS drive.

Not 500mbs transfer rate.

Looked long and hard at the previous very helpful reviews. Bought the powerline pass through (TL-PA451 AV500) with 2 wireless adapters (TL-WPA4220 AV500 300M), result.. EXCELLENT. Signal improved all round the house, wife happy that signal doesn't keep dropping off when she is at the other end of the house (got to be worth it for that !), and it extends well into the garden because we can position the wireless adapter at the opposite end of the house to our main Virgin Hub. We have even been able to connect our Virgin Tivo boxes to our wireless network from the wireless adapters, with the ethernet cables (2metres) provided. Don't dally thinking over this set up, just buy it, it makes wireless life so much easier.

Good product, I've gone with other TP-Link homeplugs around our flat, and when we changed internet providers and I needed to plug in a router by my phone, where's only one socket, I went for one of these to match the set. Pairing is easy and I've had no issues with speed or interference of any kind, job done.

I'd love to give this 5-stars, and maybe I should have waited a bit longer before posting a review.

They're very easy to setup, as so many others have said, plug and play at its best!

I can't only get 28Mbit across mine though - and I've gone through the suggestions of removing other AC adapters, cordless phones etc. from nearby. I guess it could be my wiring - I'm in a 60's Wimpy house though so it's not ancient. :D

On day 31 (so outside of the Amazon returns window), they started losing connection with each other - I'd have to power down one of them and power it back up again. I haven't done any troubleshooting yet, so I'll update this review when I have.

For the time being I've reverted to a network cable from my router to my PC.

Overall I'd recommend them though.

I like many others, have read the reviews on this product and went ahead and purchased three to upgrade my network.
Installation was relatively trouble free, and I got them connected. The utility provided is not very consistent and bit buggy.
Using the Utility I could see various speeds being reported in the range of 337Mb/s to 300Mb/s. However this is the speed BETWEEN the adapters which may not be obvious to some people. It is NOT the speed across the link from Ethernet port to Ethernet port. I bought these adapters so I could achieve speeds above 100Mb/s which is what my wired network supports. Gigabit (1000Mb/s) ports are quite common now. Apparently TP-Link have used 10/100 for the Ethernet port and not 10/100/1000. This means that PC to PC the maximum speed you can achieve is 100Mb/s, not 500Mb/s. I have also confirmed this by ringing technical support who confirmed the Ethernet interfaces are 10/100. The manual ALSO confirms this as well (I assumed it might be a typo). The Ethernet standard also supports full duplex at 100Mb/s so the maximum speed is 100Mb/s in both directions simultaneously, so the best this product can achieve is 200Mb/s full duplex. But for most people the bulk of the traffic is going in one direction.

It is rather like having a hosepipe connected to both ends of a drainpipe. The amount of water you can get through is limited by the diameter of hosepipe at either end, the fact that the drainpipe can carry much more water does not make any difference.

The most disturbing thing is that most people are blindly accepting the figures that the utility tells them, without understanding the system. For a remarkably unclear Chinglish explanation look here: uk.tp-link.com/article/?faqid=461.
