Bought this in order to pair it with a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router and get ADSL access. The modem worked right away by just connecting it to the router's WLAN port and setting the PPPoE login details on the router side (bridge mode). Connection speeds and line stability are as expected.
However, during normal operation, the modem tends to overheat to the point that the device starts smelling although it keeps working normally. Also, there is no way to have the modem itself establish the PPPoE link by saving the user/pass credentials on the modem instead of on the router. This, besides limiting your options, also means that you won't be able to connect to the modem over the LAN and check current connection characteristics (like uplink/downlink modem negotiated bandwidths).
I have mitigated the overheating problem by having the modem's ultra hot underside sit on a 4-ply aluminum foil mat that I made and this is working fine for me but I have to say that I am a bit disappointed by this purchase although the truth is that when it comes to bridge ADSL modems there aren't that many options available online these days.
