More About the Author

MATT SHAW is the published author of over 50 stories. Although known as being a horror author, he also enjoys spending time in other genres too - something he had always planned to do in order to have at least one book, in a wide collection, which would appeal to people from all walks of life. Shaw was first published in 2004 with his horror novel Happy Ever After - the first of his books to reach the number one slot on Amazon and the first of his books to use his trademark style of narrating the stories through the first person perspective. An extremely prolific writer, Matt Shaw is continually writing as well as keeping up to date with his readers via his (some might say) crazy Author Page on Facebook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another belter from the master of extreme! 4 Oct 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the story of Dee and Ryan, and their two children Claire and Jen. Falling on hard times, they find themselves having to move to a new house. Making friends with the people next door, they learn there is a serial killer on the loose, torturing and dismembering his victims. When Ryan's work colleague goes missing things come to a head, and Mike, their neighbour, suggests they break into their other neighbour because he seems a bit weird. It is a decision Ryan will come to regret for the rest of his life...

This one is another of Matt's extreme novels. Starting each chapter with thoughts from the serial killer, this explores the idea of who is a bigger monster, the torturer or the vigilante bent on destroying him. As usual the pace belted along, making me quite unable to put it down. Some parts were definitely not for the faint hearted or squeamish, and I found myself cringing in parts. The characters were solid, and once again there was a nice unexpected twist at the end. I also like the fact that Matt has taken a leaf out of Stephen King's book and planted 'Easter Eggs' throughout the story. Nice to bump into characters from other stories.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars How far would you go? 23 May 2014

Another (literally) ripping yarn from Matt! This book is a slight deviation (yes I feel that is the right word to use in more ways than one about Mr Shaw!) from the norm but I must admit probably one of my favourites to date. I love the subtle way other Matt books are referred to in this book and it all fits so neatly in place with the story.

Thank you Matt another great book - can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not been let down yet by Matt Shaw 25 May 2014

Another great book by this author. I kept thinking I'd worked it out and knew who the killer was only to change my mind numerous times, and then find out at the end that I am a rubbish detective and was wrong all along! Many twists and turns and I liked the reference to the book 'Art' (which I also read recently and loved). Surprised at the end to see one of the characters, Vanessa, is the same Vanessa that is featured in 'Happy ever after'. Matt Shaw is fast becoming one of my favourite authors along with Richard Laymon and Dean Koontz

Been a fan of Matts work for quite a while now and he hasn't disappointed again.
Tortured is a great little novel and absolutely flies along at a great pace.
Really enjoyed the little nods to other books he has written in there.
Keep up the good work sir.

5.0 out of 5 stars TWISTED, SICK AND UTTERLY BRILLIANT 16 Jun 2014

I am seriously wondering about the mind of this author!!!!!
Tortured is superbly executed by the weird, warped mind of genius Matt Shaw...... This brilliant British talent has once again delivered. Tortured has you desperately trying not to picture in your mind the gory, sometimes too well described acts!!!... Has a VERY unexpected warped twist......

If you haven’t been acquainted with Matt Shaw up until reading this review; be warned before hitting the ‘Buy’ button as nothing quite prepares you for the ...... sick and twisted mind of this author.

Purchasing any of Matt Shaw's books should by law come with a health warning.

SUPERB

5.0 out of 5 stars A new name for nightmares...Matt Shaw 15 Jun 2014

As usual a "bloody" good read. Unlike other authors Matt doesn't waste time in introducing his readers to the depraved and sick mind of his character. The scene with the vinegar actually made me cringe.

Enjoyed this a lot. Like Matts other books I found it just holds my attention constantly.
Again, the warning is there for a reason. His description of torture, made me wince at the thought!
I love the mention of another of Matts characters in it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read
The torture scenes were difficult to read, but the book in general was excellent. Really well paced, no 'fill', had me gripped, credible, and an ending which left me satisfied.
