5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the only drum plugin you'll need 13 Jun 2010
Before getting EZDrummer I used the kits in SampleTank and Plugsound Drum&Percs.
This is infinitely better in terms of sound quality and ease of use - I now use it exclusively.
It only includes 2 kits (pop/rock and cocktail) but there are between 2 and 6 drop-down options for each kit element so there's some scope for customisation.

The groove library will let you sketch out a song in minutes - just audition and then drag and drop onto your drum track. The styles are mainly pop and rock so you might want to add other EZDrummer kits if you want different groove patterns and don't want to tweak the midi.

The mic control is superb (the ability to control bleed is a nice touch) as is the handling of repetitive hits.

Downsides? No tambourine and no brush options for the main kit.

If you can, get a copy of the free EZDrummer Lite (it was included in the Dec 09 issue of Computer Music magazine which you might be able to back order). With a Lite serial number you can upgrade to the full version for about half price - which is unbeatable value for such a great drum plugin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friendly interface, ez to use! 24 Jan 2010
I bought this last year whilst I was recording my album. My friend who is a professional producer was doing the mixes and mastering recomended it to me during the project and I'm glad I got it. It's cheap and the drums are very good, particularly the additional packs you can add to the software to increase your kits.

I'm quite lazy when it comes to midi programing, which is where this comes in handy, as it has hundreds of fills, groves etc in the software which you just drag and drop into you sequencer (mine being cubase)

Otherwise you can just link it to a midi device and tap out the rhythm you want.

Anyway, to help anyone interested in this you can hear this product on my music on myspace under darrendcolvin on the songs Chambers of Hell, Christmas Lights and Musical Interlude.

It's used throughout my album Sojourn and for me was a Godsend in getting the project completed.

5.0 out of 5 stars TOONTRACK EZ DRUMMER 10 Oct 2010
By Graham
Bought the disk which arrived in two days, worked okay with xp but couldn't get to work with vista. Sent an email to Toontrack who replied the next day informing me to download the latest version of EZ Drummer from their website. Having done this the problem was solved and the drums sound briliant. The registration process takes a little time and you are limited to how many computers you can install it on, but at this price who can complain.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware no option to Midi Map your kit!! 26 Sep 2013

After purchasing this, downloading the software and then hooking it up to my Alesis DM10 kit, I was slightly annoyed to find only two of the Toms were working and they were both giving off the same Tom sample from EZ Drummer. My other two Toms had cymbals mapped to them, which was no good, so thought OK I just need to map them. Spent a while going through all the menus and manuals to find nothing on Midi Mapping! I then went to the EZ drummer forum on their website to discover EZ Drummer does not support Midi Mapping and you have to purchase Superior Drummer 2 to get that Option!

What a load of bull as this is something that they could easily incorporate into this program but they choose not to to make you fork out more money to buy SD2!

I was generous enough to give it 3 stars as the drums I could play on my kit sounded great and responsive and the program has a lot of good features and ease of use for people not hooking it up to an E Kit, or those that have a kit it maps to OK!

I'm reluctant to pay more for SD2 but I'll take this as a lesson to do your research before buying and I hope this has helped anyone thinking of buying this to use with your E Kit. Beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boom-Bang-A-Bang ! 28 Aug 2013

This Product could be just what your looking for here if your serious about putting some decent beats together for your home recordings...4 different kits with a choice of styles... Pop/Rock - Funk/Rock - Motown - Ballad - Sidestick and over 100 Fills and they've thrown in EZX Cocktail to boot. So Kits(4) x Styles(5) x Grooves(150) x Playing variations(20).+ EZX Cocktail .Within each kit you have a choice of changing the individual drums and or cymbals.....that's a lot of permutations of beats...so there's no excuse for not finding your style straight out of the box ! I've configured my EZDrummer to my midi keyboard/pads and it's a joy to piece things together....Once your into this it's relatively easy to multi channel the kits making the eq'ing and adding effects to the individual parts of the kit dead easy giving you complete control of your recording !..I'm running this in Cubase Elements 7 on a Windows 7 64bit OS...I'll never be John Bonham..But this'll help !

This is the perfect tool for home recording, I use it with reaper.

I am no genius when it comes to computers but after the initial headache of linking it up with reaper & assigning different tacks for snare, toms etc(thanks to you tube tutorials) I must say it is a great program to use and the drum sounds are great. I have just completed my second track and this has improved the quality of my recordings no end. I would highly reccomend this product.
