Boy loves it. However, the orange ball is too small and slips through - no pushing required. It was brought as a learning toy as he is on the autistic spectrum.... very dissappointed but seems an absolute pain to return it and there was no where I could see to just contact the seller to return and swap the orange ball!!! So the boy only has 2 balls to play with!! ............... If someone could send me a new orange ball that fits I would be most grateful.

Really like this toy! 27 May 2009
By M. Michels - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Toy Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I really like this toy. I bought it for my sons 1st birthday, but ended up giving it to him a few weeks early. My son started playing with it as soon as we gave it to him. I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not because there were no reviews. But, I went with it. At first I thought it was a little small. I don't know what I was expecting, and I didn't look at the dimensions. But after having it for a while, it is the perfect size. My son can sit with it on the floor, or stand and play at a table. Its perfect! He really enjoys putting the balls in and watching them fall. I'll hear him playing while I'm off in another room.

The balls don't make much noise. In fact, my orange one doesn't make any noise. The others ones just sound like they have a tiny ball inside that can hardly move. But even with that, my son will still shake them. The toy on the back = pointless. They should have just put a funny picture or something. The balls roll down it, then roll off and do not stay on the track. Maybe the track isn't deep enough. or maybe my house is slanted, either way my balls do not stay on it. But who cares, the front is too much fun to play with the back anyway.

Even with those two things, I would buy this toy for everyone I know, and plan to buy it for my nephew. I've caught Dad playing with it, and I too play with it. It's fun to make your own rhythm with hitting the balls down: all at once, a second in between, once they hit a certain slide - silly I know, but fun.

Plus, the toy seems sturdy. I'm very pleased with how it is made, and it is bright and colorful. The balls have some weight to them, which I like. I wouldn't have wanted a flimsy light ball. The toy can teach color matching by putting the balls into their colored hole. It also teaches cause and effect and coordination.

One more thing. It has a knob on the side that is for stopping the balls. For my son now, he doesn't understand how it is to be used. So, he'll turn it and it will stop the balls. I'll have to come fix it for him. This has happened once or twice, but not a big deal. After he understands it, I think it will be fun for him. He can let one ball go, then close it, and whatever else his imagination comes up with. That's just what I've done with it! :)

Tolo Roller Ball Run - Great 1st Birthday Gift! 2 Aug. 2009
By A. Harp - Published on Amazon.com

I bought the Tolo Ball Run for my daughter's first birthday. I am a big fan of the Tolo brand as they make quality toys that are durable. The ball run was a huge hit - my 1-year old easily can put the balls in the holes, bang them down with her hand and watch them run. Over and over again :^) She loves it! Great toy. Easy for two kids to play with and take turns. The 3 balls have nice black and white patterns on one half, and colors on the other half. Later you can teach your child to match the ball color to the hole color.

Fun! 15 July 2011
By Entrada - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Toy Verified Purchase Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My daughter is only 9.5 months and she loves this. She can put the ball in the top (not everytime, but maybe 30% of the time and getting better) and hits it a few times to drop it down to the track. She loves the clacking noise it makes (warning to parents - it is NOT a quiet toy). I showed her how one day. The next day she put the balls up herself and the day after hit them through. She hasn't yet figured out the knob/switch on the side or what to do if there's another ball in the top preventing the balls from rolling down, so it will force some good problem solving skills. I really like that it's fun (visually and auditorily), helps with motor development and hand-eye-coordination, as well as problem solving skills. And she likes it because it is fun!

Edit: My daughter is now 16 months old and still likes this toy. She doesn't play with it as much, as she's had it a while, and has sort of figured out the knob on the side. When other kids come over (the oldest we've had is about 2 years), they've all had lots of fun with it and played for quite a while.

A lot of flaws that an adult can figure out but not a baby 8 Dec. 2013
By C. Netland - Published on Amazon.com

I was disappointed by this toy based on the reviews. I bought it for my son's first birthday. My main complaint is that I don't understand the purpose of the "lock" on the side; why did they even put it there? It seems to always get in the way, and I am constantly adjusting it to keep the balls flowing freely. It is very hard to explain the mechanism in a review, but it is annoying. It is not a simple open/close knob; it rotates a beveled tip, and that beveled tip needs to be at just the right angle to continuously let balls flow freely. My son can't figure out how to rotate the knob on his own yet to let the balls through, so he gets frustrated and leaves the toy. Also, if my son pushes down the ball furthest from the lock first, and there is another ball sitting in a different "ball holder" area up top, it gets stuck. It cannot flow past the bottom of the ball sitting up top, and my 12-month-old can't figure out how to resolve that on his own. So the flow of his play gets interrupted. It cost almost $30, so I expected a lot more for my money. In my opinion, the company needs to get rid of the "lock" on the side and also make the gap between the first ramp and the top of the toy larger so that balls don't get stuck on each other.

Great toy 8-24 months!! 28 Feb. 2014
By AQBoston - Published on Amazon.com

Got this toy when my little guy was around 8 months old because of his interest in balls. He loved the balls that came with this toy - bright colors on one side, b&w on the other, and they each make a different jingle sound. He loved to roll the balls and crawl around after them at first.

As for the ramp, he became more interested in that by 9-10 months. At first he would just tip the ball ramp over onto the back (yellow) side and let the balls run down that part. I was glad that this toy maker tbought of that accomodation for younger users!! Once he got the hang of that, he started to explore the toy upright. At first he just enjoyed watching me put the balls in and then catching them at the bottom, but between 11-12 months old he figured out how to put them in himself!!

The only tricky part was that I had to make sure the crank at the top, that can stop the balls, was turned in just the right position to allow the balls to pass by. It is a cool feature of this toy for older users who want to start/stop the ball, but my son didn't figure out how to use that part until about 18 months. Then he had a blast with it though. A great grow-with-me toy!!
