Product Description
The TN1 is a non-contact infrared thermometer. Simply aim the thermometer at the target and press the measurement button to display the surface temperature instantly. The TN1 indicates temperature over the range of -33 to 220°C with a resolution of 0.1°C and is switchable between °C/°F. Each unit incorporates maximum and minimum temperature functions together with an auto power off facility that automatically turns the instrument off after 15 seconds, maximising battery life and a lock function for continuous temperature measurement. The distance to target ratio is 1:1 therefore the thermometer should be positioned as close to the target as possible. The default emissivity is 0.95 but can be changed from 0.01 to 1.

I've been using one of these for years at work.
I'm an electrician and find it invaluable for checking fuse boards for hot circuits, heating systems for correct operation, underfloor heating manifold balance etc.
Just point and press. Or lock it on and wave it about a bit.
Now however I have to get a new one, 'cause my wife's nicked it.
She's found it's great for checking baby's bottle temperature, cot temperature, baby's hands etc.
While I'm at it I'm getting one for her friend too.
Might as well get a spare 'n all. . . . . .

This thermometer is VERY versatile and I use it for checking my freezer, oven, windowsill herb garden and cooked food temperatures. I have checked it against my regular thermometers and it is quite accurate.
Another huge plus point is that it gives fast results - you don't have to wait a few minutes for regular thermometers to adjust.

The readings using this thermometer are extremely erratic and variable - I measured the same spot 3 times one after the other (in the same conditions obviously) and the reading varied in temperature by 4.5 degrees. It also varies extraordinarily (more so than I imagined) according to how close you take the measurement from. I realise the closer the better, but the difference in readings from being say 1cm away or 2, can be the difference between 6 or 7 degrees. I cannot use this and have any kind of faith in the accuracy of the measurement.

Great device.
Good service would use again. TN1 infrared non contact thermometer is a great little device, especially for checking rads performance.

Not suitable for medical use
I, perhaps stupidly, thought that this would be suitable for taking body temperatures, however in the product specification it states that it is only accurate to within 2 degrees... Read more

Great liitle thermometer
I bought this to measure the boiler and radiator temps to balancing the system. It did that job very well indeed! It's also good for checking wall temperatures. Read more
