Product Description

Mike Adams - European Christian Bookstore Journal, February 1997

The author (a vicar) tells us that most of the funny events that are recorded in the book, actually happened. I carefully read the 'copyright' page and sure enough, the usual standard disclaimer - "the characters and situations in this book are entirely imaginary and bear no relation to any real person or actual happening" - was missing. St Agatha's in Yawtown is a classic dull middle of the road Anglican church, with a dull vicar who has two left feet and a praying wife. It livens up after its own version of the Toronto Blessing hits town. In dealing with the aftermath, the author is very honest. Not everyone is saved, indeed not everyone likes the modern approach and some leave the church for good. Pain and death are shown as part of God's will, and there is other good teaching too. This is all in the context of humour, which some may find offensive, but which most will probably enjoy. The author is not (yet) quite as good as Adrian Plass, but they have much in common. An enjoyable read, likely to sell well.

Book Description

A hilarious but in the end moving account of life in an Anglican parish. Dares to make fun of the Toronto Blessing, and our inability to talk of death. Drawings by Taffy.
