Someone's coming for Chelsea – the DEATHCLOCK killer who will stop at nothing until she’s dead.

But BEST FRIENDS stick together!

Instead of enjoying her best friend’s hen evening, receptionist Chelsea Denham is wondering why Lee, a handsome stranger in the bar, is questioning people about phrases she received by email that morning:
‘Tick Tock. Your number’s up. People have to pay for what they’ve done.’
The email contains a ticking countdown timer.

While police investigate, Chelsea teams up with Lee. She is about to encounter the worst week of her life, face guilt head-on and have her loyalty tested while frightened out of her home, menaced and used as bait.

Her troubled best friend is forced to reveal a dark secret and her deepest fears. It puts a new slant on the problem but, according to Lee, the stakes haven’t altered; when the countdown timer in the email reaches zero... you die.

Suspense MURDER MYSTERY with some ROMANCE. 91,000 words. 346 pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely surprised 14 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the sample and was gripped. I started reading and was hooked. There were passages I thought were over-stretched but restrospectively I think they needed to be as they were. It is subtly contemporary and that kept me going. Nice twists in the plot. Was thinking four stars but changed this to five at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling, realistic read !!! 16 April 2011
By Avid2
Format:Kindle Edition
Every now & then, you stumble upon a book that grips you so badly that you don't want it to end. This is one of those kind of books!

Gripping & realistic characters provide chapter upon chapter of tension, twists, secrets, betrayal, as well as some moments which made me laugh, and a truly captivating romance which runs throughout the story. The author has worked magic to keep the reader in a near constant 'who's doing it,' mindset, and had me rooting for Chelsea and Lee from the start. It is all topped off with a spectacular finale!

Characterization is wonderful, particularly Chelsea. The book kicks off with Chelsea's panic to find out who is sending her threatening emails, and why. She is having the worst week of her life. I won't say much more on this as I don't want to give out any spoilers. But let's just say that the plot soon thickens with the introduction of Lee, who's on a quest to solve his brother's murder. Every chapter is well, & cleverly written. Just when you think you've worked it all out, the plot deepens even further, leaving you questioning your theory, just like how Chelsea is questioning the people in her life. The character's dilemmas and their separate & secret personal agendas are believable & maddening in the sense that you just want things to work out for everyone. But, of course, things never go smoothly in fiction land.

Anyone of the main characters could be your friend, neighbour or work colleague.
The book is impossible to put down, ticks so many boxes, and I am so glad I took a chance on it!

3.0 out of 5 stars ***** Teen Book ***** 21 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Although this book made you read to the end I felt it was more a teenagers book than adult. A bit over the top with some of the storyline a bit unbelievable. There was a few twists and turns but not overly exciting.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read, lots of twists and turns 5 Dec 2013
Quite a bizarre and highly unlikely tale but with plenty of twists and turns and surprises that kept me reading, wanting to know the ending. I enjoyed the writing style and it flowed pretty well. Just a bit farcical as it got closer to the end. hence 4 stars not 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant read and well written 25 Oct 2013

I bought this on impulse when it popped up on the screen and was also pretty cost effective. For a relatively cheap book it was surprisingly good but had some twists and turns that seemed somewhat farfetched. The characters were pretty well defined though and parts of ift were reasonably gripping. For sure kept you guessing and wondering whodunnit. A range of characters who could have dunnit and get eliminated one by one. At times I skipped through it pretty quickly as it didn;t totally grip me but I was determined to find out who did do it and was glad I did. As I hadn't guessed and won't spoil it for people who've not read it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A PAGE- TURNER! 21 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Absolutely not my usual genre preference (I'm a sci-fi/ horror fan) so I was very surprised to find that I did want to read to the end & enjoyed the finish. A contemporary whodunit with a few twists, likeable heroine & enviable love story. A good holiday read & for me, a guilty pleasure! ;-)

Just when I thought I was coming to the end it didn't. A few thousand words less would have been better.
