Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

When a game is delayed as long as Juiced it rarely bodes well for the end product. The delay seems especially unfortunate in this case it’s meant the game has been beaten to the starting line by similar titles such as Need for Speed: Underground 2 and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition.

Juiced is, like the other games mentioned, a street racer and has the same obsession with customising your car with both performance mods and after-market cosmetic alterations (all of which are based on real products). 7.5 trillion combinations are apparently possible, although you’ll have to trust THQ’s maths on that as its doubtful they’ve counted them personally.

What is truly unique about Juiced though is your ability to recruit and organise a team of your own racers. Special crew races are possible and you can control your team members in-race, in a similar manner to the B-spec mode in Gran Turismo 4. The show-off trick challenges are also a neat addition and a welcome alternative to the standard races.

Although it has some interesting features there are still some notable problems with Juiced, particularly in terms of the handling which is disappointingly simplistic and an uncomfortable halfway house between the likes of Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer. The artificial intelligence of rival drivers is also weak and outside of the more exotic game modes the game treads very similar ground to its rivals. As long as you’re not expecting anything too original though this is still a very competent racer. -- Harrison Dent

Manufacturer's Description

Juiced uniquely combines the depth of a car modification simulation with the authenticity of true street racing tactics and culture. The game features nearly 50 licensed vehicles, real-time modding with hundreds of authentic aftermarket parts, more than 7.2 trillion unique custom car creations, realistic car physics and damage, and a robust suite of online head-to-head play modes, including, for the first time ever, "crew based" team racing and racing for competitors' P45s.

1.0 out of 5 stars JUICED? Hardly!! 3 July 2005
I agree with the review that said this game would have benefited with coming out when it was supposed to. I have owned and played both Juiced and NFS2 and have to say that NFS2 wins hands down. Juiced looks bad, plays bad and isn't worth the hype it has received. The cars look chunky and a little cartoony and the modification are boring! I felt that it lacked the depth of both NFS2 and Midnight Club which are far better games. In Juiced the only time you get to drive your car is during an event which I found extremely boring and pegged in. By this I mean that in NFS2 for example, you can just jump into your car and go for a blast down the city streets and race someone if you fancy it. My opinion, which is all this is, is do not bother buying this game. If you have owned NFS2 and want something to whet your appetite since you have finished it this is not the game for you as you will be dissapointed! Wait a while, Fast & Furious the Game is coming out soon and promises to be far better!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's going to be good 27 April 2004
By Edward
Juiced is a game similiar to games such as Need for Speed Underground, andthe soon to be game The Fast and the Furious. Juiced therefore allows youto spice up your car, with all the usual, but this time fully liscensedparts for your car's performance and looks. However the main difference isthat you get to have you own "CREW". These guys can be rubbish, oramazing, depending on how much "respect" you have. Therefore, in this way,you can win the race just with you team mates. The great thing is though,is that you can also order them around during the race; telling them tobarge other people, or to hang back etc. Any fan of racing games shouldbuy this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mildly irritating? 17 Aug 2006
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I found this game fun at first, and my bright pink Peugeot and I got on fine with the tracks and challenges...I upgraded my car...I modified it...the modification side of this game is a lot of fun. Unlike lots of driving games you can literally change your car to any colour you like, change bumpers, sides, windows, neons, nitrous, spoilers, exhausts...everything; and that's fun. You can even add sponsors and graphics to the sides of your motor if you so desire. The let down of this game is the actual gaming. Once having your car all funked up and ready to go, you are left with 4 or 5 tracks, and a not particularly challenging concept. Race the odd guy, win by miles, get $5000...well that was difficult...so then, you patch up your car, go for another challenge...race a guy...win...get $5000...ah, I see a pattern forming here?

In all honesty this game is fun at first, but there doesn't seem to be any real point to it. You race the same people over and over...do the same tracks over and over...and the main aim is the earn "respect" from a load of characters with stupid voices. Their respect isn't even that difficult to earn...simply play the short, straight tracks (can't remember the names) over and over using one of the members of your "crew" so you don't have to bother...and you will earn respect points with one person faster than you can say the word "boring". So, so easy.

Yeah the graphics are good, but to me the fun in this game ended with the modifications.

Juiced is a very simple, enjoyable and is a game you can constantly pick up and play.

The idea is similar to Need For Speed. However the experience is different. Read more
