This review is from: Elite Forces WWII Normandy (Video Game)
OK its an old game and its cheap. Maybe I had forgotten how bad things used to be in 2003 - but if this game is representative, than I'm glad my memory has faded.
The graphics are atrocious, very blocky with no definition and detail, I expect there are now many phone games available with much better graphics. It is almost 2 dimensional in its layout. The difficulty rating seems to depend on how many hits you can take and if you can see them they can see you - shoot from cover is a joke - so it is not long before some opponent spawns out of nowhere and that's the end. Learn it, predict it and next time its curtains for him, as the game play is totally linear. Oponents just wander or run about standing up, stark against the unnatural background sets. its really not scenic or interesting. The aiming system is terrible, there is no down sight aiming and just faded cross hairs that are difficult to bring to bear. "Historically Accurate weapons" it says - well I suppose calling them the right names counts. Other than that there is little to differentiate them except that it is extremely difficult to count a hit with lower end weapons like pistols and easier with more large scale weapons. I was interested in this because of the 101st Airborne link, but actually there is nothing really to do with this illustrious division in the game. The sleeve promises quite a lot - but I suppose if you consider it was written in 2003 and that even then it might have been stretching its "state of the art" declarations, its not up to much at all now....
